WWII Online

WWII Online

Merge my Steam username and Original ww2ol username
Will I need to merge both my steam and original ww2ol username? Or will I be able to log in with my old ww2ol one?

Don't know, think the devs will explain in future in combination with the launch.

You can use your old ww2 name but you won't be able to link it to steam then/use steam (only has non-steam game). If you use steam to purchase/download the game then you will not be able to use your old ww2 name.

Yup, Monsjoex hit the nail on the head!

I'm confused sorry...
My account I used to use wiht ww2online, I will not be able to access it when you come to steam?
I was a Major General as I recall, once asked to join high command. Will I need to start over to earn all I previously earned in the way of "unlocking equipment"?

Your original account is still available and if you want to keep playing with that username, you can log in as you always have and play WWII Online as a "Non Steam" game. If you want to play the game through Steam when it comes available, you will not be able to access your original account and will need to start a new account (and have to rank up again).

Dagger and Monsjoex are correct here guys. We explained this in our release announcement.

Your previous account with us is safe and secure with its historical data intact. Due to technical pain we will not be transferring those accounts or changing game names from organic (non-Steam) to Steam accounts.

Any thought to the future and if the new development team gets more on their feet to taking another look at merging?
Icecold6k Aug 28, 2017 @ 6:52pm
At this time we do not have any plans on merging accounts in the future.

Than you're loosing a lot of old day one players that were waiting for WW2 OL coming to Steam. And that sucks bigtime if you ask me.

I agree, it would be nice, however old accounts can still be accessed the normal way. All players, Steam included, will be playing on the same server, so playing as a non-steam game does not have any disadvantage game play wise.

Unfortunately its just a technical reality.

The only Day1 accounts have a lot of entries in them that dont exist anymore, that could be one issue. For example i know my account has stats for Chinese air force persona, and probably various other baggage that is no longer in play.

Its probably a horrible pain to go through each persona one at a time and hand correct the database entries to get them to properly sit in the steam system.

Bummer as it might be, i can understand not even wanting to go there.

Like dagger said, ALL the B1 accounts are still ready and waiting, just go the wwiionline.com and re-activate it.
Or make a fresh start, recapture that excitement of ranking up and gaining access to a newer better [insert unit name here]

I'd really like to use my Steam callsign. But to lose my history in the game? that would be a bummer.

Nah, you'd have it back in short order. You already have advanced knowledge

Not sure it is an issue of can't but an issue of not wanting to invest the time to do it.

Merlin - Yuh figure? Maybe they've optimized their player dB. Cuz I recall (OMG!) a decade ago un-tangling this stuff was such PITA I told the guys to just drop it.

Armor - I don't impute negative motive (or attitude) to folk I support.
Unless we find ourselves in the same squad. I'm righteous about who gets into fire-team with me. (1/2 just kidding!)
