[Linux] Black screen with nVidia graphics [RESOLVED]

Mint 16 Cinnamon 64-bit (uses packages from Ubuntu 13.10)

On game launch, there's a black screen with sound, responding to clicks and keypresses with white rectangles (probably glitched text).

Glibc 2.17
Graphics card nVidia 550 Ti
Tested with both default xorg and xorg-edgers ppa, nVidia drivers 319 and 331 respectively.

It works fine on an otherwise identical OS with an Intel gpu.

The nearby post on glibc 2.15 error has a description of this issue in the comments, but it probably deserves a separate post.

I also want to say I see difficulties with both Solar Flux and Solar 2, the latter's showing not fullscreen, about ¹/3 of whole window size, all items positioned not properly within the window or relatively to each other.

Should be a ble to play with a controller? In all honesty though, I think the mouse makes it a bit easier to get those 3 star ratings! ;)

I don't have any; it's a laptop, so I only use wireless mouse in a FPS, nothing else. And if it can be played with a gamepad then it could be played with generic keyboard. I'll be glad to hear that you don't throw the option away.
