This did change in later ports as far as I know.
AFAIK all the later ports have the "one-time" sorts of features be repeatable so you can progress multiple parties through the scenario instead of being more of a puzzle/adventure game.
I don't know if it's repeatable on the Apple version but that's an interesting thing to not port over properly if they're trying to base it more off of that than the ports. I'll say all the enemies seem to be based on the NES art though. Which isn't a bad thing.. lol
tip for bishops: put cheap cursed gear on them so they cant auto equip new cursed gear.
