Is it possible to play the original version?
I know that everyone who will buy it is to play the remake, but it would be interesting to be able to play the 1980 version.

This is actually the original version -- the Apple II code, running under and through Unreal Engine.

I noticed by mistake that when you press 'm' is shows a little image of the original game... looks just like the Apple II version.

I played Proving Grounds on the NES. This and Zelda were the first 2 video games I ever bought. Was the NES version the same as the Apple II version?

I went through so much graph paper with this game! LOL

I got into PC gaming shortly after and didn't return to Wizardry until 7, Crusaders. I would love to see a remake of that!

Here you have a French review of every existing version of the game. Auto translate it and it will answer exactly your question https://retroarchives.fr/wizardry-proving-grounds-of-the-mad-overlord/

The original MS-DOS version is very playable on modern PCs using DOSBOX.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I think that he meant the possibility of including the original as a separate game (not as an overlay) that can be played separately. This would be very nice and without the hassle of finding emulators or using dosbox.

Talking about the Unreal Engine, can you please confirm the system requirements on GoG - it is totally different from the system requirements shown in Steam!

Steam requirements are correct. We've submitted an update for the GOG requirements.

16 GB of RAM as minimum requirement?! O_o
I'm perfectly alright with just 12.

Download an apple II emulator and you can play it on your PC via emulation. Google it. Not hard to setup.

Knowing all the code is essentially the same, would it still be possible to switch between the Apple II graphics and modern graphics completely and get that cool monitor green color on it from the trailer? I know the controls are slightly different, so I don't know how easy that is to change on the fly. Any chance of getting other graphics and/or music options like the NES version in the game someday? I'm really interested to know how the the code is implemented in Unreal too, if you guys could elaborate more on how that works. Thank you all so much for making this game, it's really awesome to see. <3

Green overlay is feasible, but a complete removal of the 3D graphics -- not at this time, no -- the way it's built, Unreal is always running and just turning off the modern graphics is not as easy a task as it might seem. (It also fundamentally changes what the experience is, which might matter to our licensors.) But I did discuss this with the lead engineer and was told, from a technical level, it's not impossible but it would require a lot of additional work, so if it happens, I would not expect it to take priority over the other improvements already in the pipeline.

More music is on the way.

The only insight I can offer on Unreal is that we converted from Pascal to C++ and that's what's running underneath.

Take a look at this page:

https://www.zimlab.com/wizardry/

I got it up and running on the suggested emulator in just a few minutes.

I played the Original on a DOS Apple computer. When you were creating Heros the STAT points created randomly so you could farm and Get a Large Stat Allowance and could build a Samurai for your first run! i purchased this and this is no longer available like in original version. Will this random Stat Allowance Generator be incorporated in the Future? LMK Thanks
