What's up with Gold?
When I go back to town, my party has 844 gold.
My first character and second characters have 38 gold, the rest all have 36 gold.
38 + 38 + 36 + 36 + 36 + 36 = 220.

I have noticed that when I open chests, a certain number comes out of the chest, and then it says that all characters receive a certain amount, and the totals don't match.
For instance, I got a chest that said 80 gold (I think it was gold? it was fast) and then every one got 11gp. 11 * 6 = 66 < 80.

is there, like, a reserved party cache of gold? Am I just missing how to see it? When in town, the Gold in the upper right? Does that include the amount of gold the characters have on them?

I've noticed that too about the chest gold amounts. Something must have been changed because all gold goes into a common pool now rather than being held individually. Also it seems to wait to add the gold to your total until after you make it back to town.

Interesting! I had 844 gold, and I decided I really needed to get moving on getting a backup party started. So I deleted the extra characters that I started with, (except the Bishop. Level 2 Bishop for free? score!) made a whole new party. Went to the tavern and ditched my original party and formed my new backup party.

Gold in the upper right corner remained 844, so it is totally separate from charter gold?

Distracted by this I entered the maze COMPLETELY forgetting that my new characters were totally and utterly naked.

I exited the maze immediately, and the Gold in the upper right shot up to 1,417! Why? I have no idea!

I bought equipment, entered the maze, equipped it, then turned around and came back out. Nothing happened Gold-wise. I still have 534 in the upper right corner.

I wish there was a help prompt or something that would help me understand what is happening.

@Stefan_Marley
You are so Right! I just noticed that the character gold on all these characters is now 0!
So you have character gold and party gold. You spend party gold, but characters gain (at least partially) the gold, then it all pools when you exit!

Thank you! That totally makes sense now!

Also there is a bug when you create a new character - the code assigns a random amount of gold to them but it's not credited to the party until you enter and then exit the dungeon. That's why your total changed when you created all new characters. As long as 1 member remains in the Tavern you don't lose gold by dying. Yet another reason to create a Bishop and leave him home.
Each new character has a sum of gold on them to purchase necessary gear in the store prior to entering the maze. Yes, you can create a new party of 6, go to the maze, come right back and you'll have about 700 more gold in your cache. This is not a new thing, you could do this in the OG as well; the only difference is that back then, you would leave one of your regular characters in the party and "Pool Gold" from the new characters to get the gold you needed. Or you just play the game as intended and not worry about it. This isn't a bug unless it was a bug in the OG.

As far as the gold from the chests/characters, that is interesting.

I noticed the "bug" in reporting where if a chest gives, say, 121 gold it'll say that all 6 characters got 20 gold each but I never bothered to check whether the game actually gave me 120 or 121
