I tried lots of different groups of six. My best group and the one that I used to identify on floor 10 was (1) A Samurai converted from a Priest with all Priest spells (2) A Lord (3) A Ninja converted from a Priest (4) A Mage, who was level 28 when I finished the achievement (5) Another Mage, level 26, (6) A level 17 Bishop who I just carried along to identify and sometimes dispel.
Madi and Bamadi are useful spells against the strongest monsters on Floor 10. Converting Priests into a melee class worked for me.
All my characters had 100+ hit points so I could set all six to identify the Malefic and have everyone survive the Tiltowait. Converted characters get big hit points. The keep the old hit points and gain the hit points of the new class.
The High Master was the final monster I needed to identify to complete the achievement.
Yes, it took a lot of hours to do this, but I was having fun. Figuring out how to fight efficiently and identify at the same time is a challenge.
I can kill everything in the game almost instantly. Many of my units are level 18. The problem is that the monsters that I need have never once shown up in the game.
My level 17 thief has (also has 12 levels in mage) 119 hit points.... she has the lowest HP of any of my characters.
I have killed Werdna 4 or 5 times and he is fully identified, as are his vampire minions.
I have spent over 20 hours now just mindlessly killing everything on floor 10 looking for these 2 monsters.
It isn't an issue of power. It is an issue of the monsters I need never once appearing in the game in the 70+ hours I have put into this game.
successfully identifying them is another entirely (;
but yeah, pot luck as per the mechanics link below
what have you set as your in game Option for Inspect Enemy ?
Options > Action Options > Enemy Identification System
roll per combat or inspect enemy ?
I use the latter
My suggestion is the same for both - just do repeated laps of respective floors (9 & 10) exploiting Save & Exit to Main Menu to reset the level
Once you encounter them, don't kill them, nor parry !
have each party member either manually inspect or cast Identify Monster aka Latumapic
sure, kill others, but your focus is Identification, so take the risks
much safer if everybody is carrying a Werdna's Amulet, yeah (;
Same advice applies for Equipment : hunt where the hunting is richest (& curse the Fates !)
Farm the L7 Fire Dragon ad infinitum & u'll find what ur looking for, and more besides.
this encounter wasn't in the original, so it's a QoL from DE freebie.
#67
massive XP as per all high magic resistance foes
readily suffocated as per all Giants (overkill tbh)
travels with: nobody
hunt: loop laps of level 9
10 #67 = 00.00 %
9 #65 - #74 = 31.94 % /9
8 #65 - #67 = 9.28 % /2
7 #65 - #74 = 2.79 % /12
6 #60 - #69 = 2.78 % /10
5 #60 - #69 = 0.17 % /9
#94
travels with: 100% Poison Giants (ignore them)
hunt: loop laps of level 10
repeat the Contra Dexta Avenue loop, but take the right turn back to the start (& maybe scumsave) instead of proceeding on to Werdna
10 #94 = 0.69 %
9 #85 - #94 = 0.27 % /10
8 0.00 %
The rule is that each map has three monster groups A, B, and C.
You have a 3/4 chance of getting group A
a 3/16 chance of group B
and 1/16 chance of group C
The corresponding roll resolves and determines the monster index of the encounter you get.
Yeah, I am already doing everything you suggest here, including the settings. Though I gave up on looking for equipment as I already killed Werdna and my characters are overpowered already.... my Bishop for instance is a level 13 mage/level 13 cleric and now converted to a level 14 Bishop.
I killed the dragon on level 7 many, many times, but no point now.
All I do is clear level 9 and level 10 looking for these last two monsters,
I ended up with a level 21 thief (with 13 levels of mage), a level 19 mage (with 13 levels of priest), a level 17 Samurai (with 13 levels of priest), a level 16 Lord (with 13 levels of mage), and a level 16 Bishop (with 13 levels of mage and 13 levels of priest), and my 6th character was swapped between a level 18 Fighter and a level 14 Samurai (with 12 levels of fighter).... and another 8 characters that were used from time to time for disaster recovery.
I never found a thieves dagger, lord's garb or shuriken. I did find 2 Muramasa Blades. There were tons of other items I never found. I killed the dragon on level 7 many, many, many times... but was too tedious to keep doing it for these rare items.
The achievements were far harder to complete than just finishing the game. It was tedious for the last 15 hours or so... not sure why I bothered. The jokes on me, I guess.
