Wizardry PGMO 1.0 release date: May 23, 2024
Happy to share our 1.0 release date with everyone. It's been an intense period of time since we lauched Early Access in September, but now -- perhaps appropriately, about nine months later -- we're taking the game to 1.0 on May 23.

For those of you who also play on consoles or have friends who do, the game will also ship on Xbox Series S|X, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch the same day. Also, a lot of folks have asked, but we don't have plans to bring this to mobile platforms like iOS or Android at this time -- but you Steam Deck players should continue to get along great.

We are also honored to announce that the Bestiary lore text for Wizardry: PGMO has been created by legendary Wizardry scribe Benny Matsuyama. It's exclusive to this project, so we hope that's good news for fans of his Wizardry novels and guides.

Final price is TBD but as original stated in that FAQ pinned back in September, there's a good chance it will be going up for the final release. If you've been waiting, perhaps don't wait any longer.

Looking forward celebrating at the finish line with all of you who have helped us make the project so much better with every update!

Good point. Wizardry 8 which has monster animations has a way to adjust animation speed for movement and animations as well as limiting the animations. It also has combat speed and messaging speed as well as many other features to speed up or slow down combat and adventuring. Hopefully Digital Eclipse will shift gears from what looks cool (as they have that now) to what is practical for a good experience in turn based playing.

Both combat text and animation speed must be configurable. I have a very low tolerance for animations etc. At the very least there should be a key to hold down to speed up combat like in Bard's Tale.

Congrats! Hope you get the chance to remake 2 and 3 as well! (and maybe 4,5 and 6, but lets not get ahead of ourselves :tgrin: )

Yes Bards Tale has done fantastic with this. You can super speed through messages, slow it down significantly or even pause each message until you click for the next. I'd be happy with the original setting with 1-5000 T)ime. 1 = just tell me who won the battle so I can explore more, 5000 = I'm gonna fix a sandwich and do some laundry while this battle rages on. :)

Feedback received and delivered to the team regarding T)ime and combat animation skipping, which are to my mind two approaches to the same issue.

This feature will not be in 1.0 but the team knows it is desired.

Thank you! :)

Will the new enemy identification system be optimized after version 1.0? As far as the current experience is concerned, the efficiency of this system is too low, and "latumapic" uses the APPLE version of the solution, which even affects the completion of game achievements. It is hoped that in subsequent updates, the option to use other versions of the "latumapic" effect will be provided, and the completed content of the illustrated book and achievements will be more tolerant. Thanks

Seriously. Digital Eclipse did such an amazing job on PGMO that I would buy Knight of Diamonds sight unseen, or pre-pre-pre-pre-release. KoD was my favorite of the originals and I have confidence that Digital Eclipse would do right by it.

This would be a must buy if you had a character export option to the DOS versions of Wizardry sequels. As it is, we now have to wait for the remakes for all of Wiz 2, 3, and 5 however long that will take.

Yeah, sorry, that was never in the design goals.
