Stuck in NW Section of Floor 8 with all the teleporters
It appears that once you get into this area, there is no way out, as all teleporters lead to the same area. There is also a Glass wall at 14,0.

There aren't teleporters in that room, except for one tile as I recall. It is a room filled with rotating floors, so you essentially need to cast Dumapic constantly until you get to a wall and keep reorienting yourself to find the door in the NE corner, or use MALOR to teleport out.

i'm not playing the old school version so floor 8 is based on the NES version not the original. My mage spells are only Level 6 so I don't have the Malor spell yet.

According to maps, the stairs up are in the central room, and the elevator is along the bottom edge at 0 North, 10 East. The elevator may be the only way down.

I'm restarting from the beginning, it appears that there is no way out from the NW section of the dungeon as all 4 Teleporters lead back to the same section.

The teleporter at 8 West, 13 North should take you out to the southwest corner of the central room in the maze.

adding the new levels is not a terrible plan. switching the levels out is wrong though. they should have just added floors. taking the old levels away is bs.

AFAIK, they didn't remove any levels. All 10 of the original floors are still available. All they did was add the three NES versions of 6, 7, and 8. You are supposed to be able to select which version of the maze you want.

Is there even anything you need to get on Level 8? I played the DOS version back in 2022 and it seemed like there weren't really any meaningful key items/puzzle things/whatever between floors 4 and 9.

When I played it in the early 80's on my Apple II, floor 8 had a fire dragon somewhere I would fight over and over again for possible good treasure. I'm pretty sure that is what the gold key was for, but I may be wrong as I'm trying to remember details from 40+ years back. :) Otherwise, no floor 8 has nothing needed.

Floor 4 on the other hand has the blue ribbon needed for the elevator to 4-9 floors. Floor 9 has the chute to level 10. Have fun!

I'm sure you finally made it out by now, but I was in the process of mapping the NES versions of floors 6-8 when you posted this.

I have to admit that mapping those versions of 6-8 were a bit more challenging than any of the original 10 floors. Floor 7, eventually you end up in the area where you fight the fire dragon. If you're not careful you can take the teleporter in the corner of the room that takes you to a section of floor 7 where the only way out is to take the stairs to floor 8.

Floor eight in the NES version is blanketed with dark areas, secret doors, littered with teleporters. The teleporters get nasty in the NW quadrant of the maze, for sure.

The long and short of getting out of that NW quadrant is to take the teleporter at 0E 13N. That will drop you at 7E 12N. From there you move 4 spaces E (11E 12N) and open the secret door on the North wall.

Once in that room take the door at the end of the hall and at the end of that room will be a teleporter at 8E 13N that will take you out of that area back to the center of the maze and drop you at 8E 8N.

From here you can take any of the other teleporters to the other areas of the dungeon. The one with the shortest walk to the elevator is the teleporter at 10E 9N.

Not really, they are just grind floors for treasure and XP.
On Floor 7 I Found a Ring of Dumapic with Unlimited Charges, very useful when running out of Spell points in new areas.

Yup. Many a night was spent grinding for the Thieves Dagger and Blade Cuisinart.
