What the heck is vim?
I just got this game and it seems fun, but it's very confusing. There's a lot that just isn't explained, like you're supposed to be familiar with the original game before you can play this one. For instance, I would have no idea what "dispell" was supposed to do if I hadn't played the original, and I remembering playing it for a while as a kid before I finally understood its purpose.

This is especially true with "vim". When I rest my characters at the inn, it says they consumed vim. As far as I can tell, there's no explanation of what that means. Am I missing something? Is there a guide somewhere that explains these things? A Google search just results in some forum discussions were people basically say, "Of course everyone already knows what vim is, but I'd like a clarification on (indecipherable stream of words)." As far as I can tell, it has something to do with aging, like your characters get older when they sleep or something.

Anyway, it's a bit frustrating to get all these messages that have no clear meanings.

Yes, I still don't know what VIM even stands for! I only know it pertains to age and how much life you're character has before retiring to the nursing home or something.

I just always choose age as an option.

BUMP!

I cannot tell if it's a joke about the text editor or if it's an acronym

Vim is a pretty uncommon word but roughly means vitality I think. Like in the saying "vim and vigor".

I mean, it is a basic English word....

I know right! I immediately thought about the 90's and using Vim to experiment with writing code...ah the days when I was a young geek. :)

It is the replacement for the original aging system that the devs seemed to think for some reason was too complicated...It wasn't broken before, just another dumb thing that they could not leave alone.
