Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord

Statistiche:
Weapons and armour
Just started level 9 and the best weapons I have found so far are plus 1 long swords, plus 1 short swords, plus 1 maces and plus 2 staffs. Also my armour is only plus one apart from chain mail which is plus 2 and i have only found basic robes for my mage. Are these the best weapons and armour in the game? I never played the original versions of Wiz 1 to 5 but have played 6 7 and 8 many times and they all have special weapons and armour.

weapons and armor are limited, it got alot better with later wizardries.i think there is 1 or 2 +3 stuff and some +2, alot of cursed items and a handful of good ones like the thieves dagger or Muramasa Blade. But Gear is pretty overated in Wiz 1 since you can nuke 98% with Magic

Bernhard, Thanks for your response. Thieves dagger sounds good. Muramasa blade wont help me as i dont have a samurai. I have now found an evil shield plus 3 and a longsword plus 2. Bit strange that the longsword plus 2 is worth less (2000 gold) than the longsword plus 1 (5000 gold). Having trouble getting through level 10 but heigh ho I'm getting more exp and finding better weapons. Will include a samurai in my next play through which will have to wait until the mouse support update which I thinks is planned for this month.
you can change to a samurai later, and i think the blade drops on level 10(i never got one, seems super rare)
Just found dragon slayer. Am now on the final battle with Werdna. Been wiped out 4 times. Need to come up with a strategy. Time to find out if the buffing spells are any good. Currently level 12 so dont have level 7 spells yet. Maybe i need to level up more.
I would say wait until you have at least one mage and one priest at level 13, Even better more at level 13.
Only way to beat Werdna without high level spells is to have a Samurai (preferably with a Muramasa Blade) or Ninja (for insta-kill chance). BTW Ninja does NOT need to be barehanded to crit. A Lord or very high level Fighter to tank is helpful too.
Or of course just be extremely lucky.

The Dragon Slayer isn't very good. In most cases, Longsword +2 is better.

I would wait till you are at least level 14.
I've found 2 Vorpal Blades farming the first level 9 guardian room. These bad boys are a game changer, they hit hard! +6 to hit 1D3+9 damage and 4 min attack
Samurai with Muramasa insta-kills everything. Ninjas are mostly useless except for the random crit if you're willing to reboot constantly to get the crit.
Muramasa is 10d5. Nothing comes close.
Blade Cusinart' is not bad either. When I can get one I put it on my Lord and then if I get another I'll put it on my Ninja. Still get TPK if surprised sometimes but better gear is where it's at for melee types in this game.
Muramasa has almost 3x the damage of Cuisinart. But Cuisinart is the best blade for the lord. For the ninja, you want to find the elusive shuriken, assuming your ninja is evil.
BTW, looks like they renamed Cuisinart to Vorpal Blade in this remake. Probably due to Cuisinart being a trademarked brand.

Wouldn't surprise me, although the original PC version that I had deliberately misspells it for that same reason. You would think after this many years, Cuisinart would just take the compliment and let it be.
