Seems each saves are separate games (same world/realm, different dimensions).

The game save file(s) are located in: Users/AppData/Local/murphy/saved
Its not a true save (imo) like a lot of the single player games, you have "in game save" or saves during mission (before/after) or save point or point of interests/story, etc,. This is more like a "Steam save" then a "game save".
This save feels more like old school (floppy disks type. make back up copy/save. if/when your party wipes, insert said floppy disk and load last recent save). You have to do often or so.
This will copy your current game from slot 0 into slot 1 as a backup.
The way the update post reads they make an in game save system.
maybe it's not working yet.
Reason we dont have regular saves is this game didnt either back in the early 80s. At least they put Murphys Ghost back in the game after much gnashing of teeth on the players part.
