DirectX error - error 10? Pesky thing won't run.

Tried a Google but no help. I get to the config box but it crashes out with aforementioned error once I hit play.

My hardware if it matters is 1080Ti @ 4K (tried other resolutions, same issue), 4790K, 32GB. Everything at stock (for now).

Any ideas?

1- make sure you have latest driver for your video card
2- Go to Start > Run > dxdiag and see if theres problem with DX
3- reinstall dx
4- check integrity of the game or reinstall the game

Is your OS is Windows 10?

Windows 10 does not include DirectX9.0 runtime.
Install DirectX Redist June 2010.

Is your OS is Windows 10?

Windows 10 does not include DirectX9.0 runtime.
Install DirectX Redist June 2010.

My OS is indeed Win 10 but this didn't help. Thanks anyway.

Did all the suggestions in here. Nothing. The thing just doesn't run. It's now not giving me the DX error though. Just doesn't run.

Got it running. Wish I hadn't. Hasn't aged well. Controls are even more diabolical than I remember, the total sh*te save system is woeful and this one is definitely better left in the past. Getting lost is why I quit on it before. And that hasn't changed much. Navigation is rotten.

Changing resolution can help with error 10, I had the same problem.

I am having the same problem, how did yout got it to work? are you able to play in 4k resolution?

1.Browse local game files
2. right click the Shadowman Application
3. hit troubleshoot compatibility

It recommended Windows xp service pack 3 and started with no issues. i hope this works for others. windows 10 user.

old game but i installed it with the error and resolved it. the error was:

directx initialisation failed
unknown error
dxerror: dderr_invalidobject directdraw recived a
pointer that was an invalid directdraw object.

to fix the issue i lowered the from 2560x1440P to 1920x1080 - seemed to work.

note i did install the dx june2010 files 1st but this did not help. only the resolution change did
