Report a translation problem
Yeah... that's why Keanu Reaves speak polish in Cyberpunk !
And Elen Page speak French in Beyond two souls !
Ho wait !
There are so many more JRPGs that could use a faithful translation instead of what are basically dubtitles that are widely different from the japanese dialogues. Worst offenders are Nintendo published games.
You weebs are very annoying.
If you want this game to be pg 13 i don't think this is the hill the die on. Plus, most people are not weeb who understand japanese and the game already came out on console, no content will get changed, this is simply and purely a pc port of the console version, like any other game usually have. If you wanted changes from the console version, i'm sorry to say, you'll probably be disapointed. Plus FF16 is more of a spectacle video game but a lot of animated cutscene-like combat even thrown into the mix. I'd advice to play the demo to see if you like it, if its not a style of game you want to buy, that's okey, there are plenty of others game you'll probably like.
This game is mainly destined and grounded in a more western world-like kind of world, aka, it is inspired from medieval europe.
If you wanted a FF title that's centered around a japanese-like world, i'm sorry to say that for this game you are in a minority. And studio who wanna be successful don't catter to minorities.
Not everybody is a weeb who knows japanese and in fact most people who play video game these aren't.
So you can either chill out while we all wait for the game, or ♥♥♥♥ off. It's your own choice, but starting a debate over a video game won't get you anywhere i promise you.
You'd have better luck trying to teach a cow how to not eat grass and ♥♥♥♥ cow poo lol.
There should be, yeah. Only Sega so far bother to have separate scripts for EN and JP voice in their Like a Dragon series.
The JP voice in this game is actually damn good as well. I've played through multiple times with both and neither are bad. If it had dual scripts that were tailored to both and proper lipsync for both, it'd be perfect.
You don’t own the game but post a complaint to what just vent and hope to dissuade others from buying?
At least buy the game play it on PC then make it a post complaining about your experience. If you own this on PS5 go to reddit to complain there.
I don’t speak jp and happy with both English VA & subs of I need them. Not every media has to 100% faithfully represent the original language depending on context of that media and intended audience… Black Myth Wukong also has bad English translations but at the end of day, translation issues don’t trump technical performance issues etc.
Even if the game's writers did write a draft Japanese script first, it's not included in the game.
The Japanese dialogue featured in the final published release, was translated from English.
The point here, is this game is the exception to every conventional wisdom about localization.
In most games the available Japanese script is the original.
But not FF16. Even Japanese players never saw nor heard what was originally written.
Modders don't have access to the early draft to restore the dialogue (and it'd be challenging for a fan project to bring the Japanese voice cast on board to record new, more accurate audio)
So if a gamer doesn't hear a tree fall in the forest, it never fell.
Didn't realize gamers could alter reality.
You do know that rough drafts are a thing right?
It's not like it's impossible for the ff16 we have to have it's script that's used in game to be an English script that was translated to japanese
The reality is it would be burglary to raid Square Enix's offices to locate the original Japanese script for FF16.
