I started & for 5 mins it said 59~ minutes to download it.
Then it got slower.
Then at 20% it said *17 hours* left.
Now it says 1H55 left (I'm at 40%).
Something's up. Downloading from my nearest datacenter (London).. I guess the servers are getting shat on with this massive download :-P.
Not gonna lie, square-eenix should know better than to send a 170 GB sized game to steam especially when this many people are on that platform lol.
Whoever compressed that file before sending it f'ed up it up real bad.
This.
Developers are chronically allergic to some basic no ♥♥♥♥ decisions. Like compressing the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game lol.
I guess they think "IDC, not my bandwidth once it's on Steam LOL".
And with built in "get-out" clauses in their contracts they dont even have to deliver what they advertise.
I think south korea may be the only country in the world where you actually get a decent bandwidth and latency.
As a consumer the only thing you can do to improve your situation is to live close to the cabinet, not have copper for the last mile.
but i guess we shouldn't expect better from an AAA publisher, its the same thing every single time AAA dev release a game, aside than a few exception. even tho we deserve better than what we are getting tbh.
You're just brute forcing the download, instead of asking for a better product which wouldn't take 170 gb of space if they had compressed it better.
We should expect to be able to get the game in 2h at most on an average connection speed and 1 GB download speed is not average at all, its the exception.
If you are here to flex, move along we don't want to hear you. I want actual solution without having to change my isp or connection speed because doing that is not reasonable and giving us a file that is 170 GB in size to download, is not either, not when steam is such a huge platform with that many people who they know will all try to download the game as soon as it come out.
If you're here to just be on your high horse ♥♥♥♥ off we don't want you talking, you're not affected by it, if you have nothing to add nor any reasonable solutions screw yourself off and see yourself off of this discussion, if you don't have any download speed issues, you don't really need to answers back just shut the hell up and enjoy your game, i want real and reasonable solution for those of us that do.
If you aren't here to be constructive, don't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reply.
square-eenix should know better bro.
