Will Demo DOWNLOAD transfer to full game download?
Sorry if this is a dumb question but wondering if anyone know the answer.

Obviously we're all upset about no pre-load.
And we all know the Demo save files will transfer over to the full game.

I'm curious if having the demo downloaded will help minimize what we need to download tomorrow morning? Are the files completely separate or will some of the demo files ease the load of the full download tomorrow?

Hard to be sure, but given the way they are listed entirely seperately in steam as games, and due to the way Square tend to take 0 consideration for the wait customers hate (or the load it puts on servers) when nobody can predownload their products, I would expect no, you will need to wait till full release to start downloading. They have never been big on letting people get things in advance, even when playing the closed betas of their MMO ya still had to wait in line to download the same launcher all over again for the full game launch, so I can't see this being better.

Unlikely as steam treats the demo and main game as completely seperate applications

Think I still had the ff15 demo after the full game. They are considered different games

No. This is 2 different entry. 2 different steam game.

Doubtful as it installs in different folders so it wouldn't even recognize the existing files.

Perhaps if you moved the files over before hand, it might validate and save downloading some of it, but no one knows for sure until they try it and they can't even try it until the game is actually released.

No. the demo is a different build and it not compatible with the main game

Some people are wrong. You will find the saved file in documents in "my games" and in the FINAL FANTASY XVI DEMO folder is the saved file. The base game will search for the saved file starting with the demo. If it finds it, the game will load and if not, another file will be created (the store description makes this very clear).

I know. I said the installation files don't carry over as they are a different version of the game.

The game literally tells you progress in the demo carries over to the full release if you want it.

When you finish the demo it saves and says it will continue on the full game so yes.

Again, not what the OP asked. So many people seemingly talking about demo save progression despite that not being the question at all. OP even states he's aware demo progression carries over. He asked if he could install the full game over the demo to save downloading the size of the demo over again.

Reading Comprehension must be hard, so many people seemingly talking about demo save progression despite that not being the question at all. OP even states he's aware demo progression carries over.
It's more about how the words are arranged that is causing the easy confusion. I also fixed my post long before you even replied. So you are free to remove your reply to me.
