Why the game not using Unreal Engine 5 ?
Do the developers said something about why they didn't use Unreal engine 5?
The game looks ok , but will have been better if the outdoors were done in Unreal Engine 5. Or perhaps Decima engine.

I'm very glad it isn't on Unreal. When I see the Unreal logo I know it means the game will stutter relentlessly.

Plus not using Unreal means less money for the petulant man child Tim Sweeny, which is the greatest win of all.

Nah they didn't use Cut down ver of luminous engine (ff14) according to interview at that time the engine doesn't have a "User manual" yet so they picked a different engine..along those lines

If there is stutters and drops from the inhouse engine, it's simply unoptimized, but once it does, it runs well, it does well at what it's supposed to do - handle the whole game structure - characters, textures, rendering effects & cache, physics and etc.

Unreal Engine? It's garbage mess, 9 out of 10 UE games no matter how optimized they seems you are stuck with stutters. Oh you have all that SSD, fast RAM/VRAM and pre-cache calculation for 10-20 mins thinking you should be able to run it flawlessly, because you pre-load all of it right? Right? No, everytime a new area pops, there go heavy stutters & drops, everytime enemy uses a new special effect move, it has to load midway causing stutter too.

An example is that FFXVI demo despite running worse with lower framerate like 30-40 fps, you can clearly see enemy attack telegraph and react to it just fine, uninterruptedly. Wukong on the other hand, despite running 60 fps, one Tiger whiffs the ground for the first time and the whole game sutters, freezes, even if just a tiny moment, leaving you unable to react and get hit.

TL;DR: Any engine > Unreal Engine

That lack of the Unreal Engine is the main reason I bought it. I am SO happy it isn't on Unreal. That means I can enjoy decent image quality.

UE5 is a trash engine for performance(ironic because it was the best back in he arena shooter days) And it has horrid visual quality if you don't have 4K.

Unless Tim Sweeny buys me a PC that can drive 4K, that engine can just stay in the ditch if he wants to force people to buy 4K.
