If you didn't need any more proof that this is just mindless trolling, ff16 launched 8 months before rebirth, it is likely rebirth obtained ff16's assets to help save time. Not that I don't imagine square already has a stock of animations it can copy over into any game it wants now, like the usual pointing, shrugging, arm-waving while talking.
You'd really wish Steam would create a proper 'block', because I'm often tempted to click 'show'. Consider yourself privileged mate, because now you'll get the response that's gonna embarrass the Holy Ghost outta ya.
Basic math about 'releases'. The game isn't made immediately before the day it releases. Aka, if FF16 released 8 months before Rebirth, you must factor for how long was FF16 in development. Which was 5-6 years. In other words, more than enough time to get a 'helping hand' from the other studio before release.
'Stock animations' would be a bad look for an AAA games company, so you're very much wrong that they'd just go budget as all hell for things like chest opening etc.
You need only look at the low enemy variety in FF16 versus FF Rebirth. It's a chasm of a difference. That tells you all you need to know about who was giving it 100% and who was just 'clocking in'.
Granted, the FF16 'Eikon' battles, while they overstay their welcome, are quite a remarkable spectacle and demonstrate high talent in terms of animation, modelling and performance.
But they're shots in the dark, in what's otherwise a lacklustre affair.
You seem to think I'm piling on the game. Kudos where it's due. The mother character, at least so far, is brilliantly written. Benedicta is another highlight. So is Kupka.
These are really quite remarkable stories, probably even superior to FF Rebirth's storytelling - which is fantastic.
That said, they can't sustain it in the way Rebirth consistently delivers high energy commitment to quality.
So you've sporadic moments of brilliance, set against mostly boring AF gameplay, and terrible side quest ideas, literally written by interns.
Is it a bad game? My answer is No.
Big jrpg fan but only like some FF games. This is my favorite. I can't think of any others that hooked me in the same way. And I've tried a lot of them. I also like the ff7 remakes and ff14 but still like most games I can only take so much at once. But when I played ff16 it was nothing but ff16 until the end.
Even the supposedly boring parts like fetch quests were always still very enjoyable to me, I guess because 1) I really like the characters and hearing them talk and 2) I really liked the setting and going to x location to find x herb or whatever always had some nice scenery to see or some battles if I was so inclined. But not all side quests are filler, there are some very good and memorable side quests, I can think of one in particular that was very amusing. But I wont spoil anything.
