Clive and original Cids daugher Midadol saves Vivian from an assassination attempt. And so, she decides to join Clive in the new hideaway, to help him, on where to strike next, concerning mothercrystals. She is capable of making educated guesses on the warring nations movements. Based on the info she provides, Clive will plan his next move(s).
Also, go talk to Tomes (the old guy, in the archives/library). He will tell you more, about all characters, or rather, you can read about them.
I didn't get any of that. I'm not sure what I did or didn't do that caused the story to move forward before I meet either of them, but when they both show up after the 5 year jump, I was like "Who are you people?" I remember Cid's daughter being mentioned in a side quest when the guy loses a letter to Cid from her, but that's all I knew. Vivian, I never saw or heard any mention of prior to the 5 year jump, so it was a little confusing when Clive starts talking to her like they were old friends.
I'm tempted to start over since I've obviously missed a few things and wondering how much more I've missed. Why did the game skip past Clive meeting them and why is something that important missable in the first place?
