Sci-fi or fantasy?

Hello!

Is this a fantasy or science fiction FF game? It's a little hard to tell from the screenshots.

It's basically a Game of Thrones setting with Final Fantasy elements.

yeah, a lot of politics and intrigues ...tho not as deep as GoT

FF16 is High Fantasy. If you prefer a mix of Scifi and Fantasy, and like MMORPG's, then I suggest giving FF14 a try. However, I think many final fantasy games fall in that duo genre (scifi/fantasy). Final Fantasy 8 and 13 were not well liked, but I loved them.

Final Fantasy traditionally includes elements of both. If you go all the way back to the first game in the series there's high technology floating cities with robots and mecha to battle.

Many titles swing from one extreme to another, but still tend to have elements of both. Even the most technologically based FF games still have swords and magic. 16 looks to be primarily fantasy, but don't be surprised to see sci-fi elements creep in from time to time.

^^ What he said, mostly fantasy, with a touch of sci fi here or there, I would say. Then again its already been a while since I played so I'm already forgetting a lot of what happened.
