FINAL FANTASY XVI

FF16 made my 3070 crash to black screen.
My specs:

I7 12700F
32gb DDR 4
RTX 3070 8gb
750w psu

Nvidia DLSS, frame gen off, most settings set to mid, textures high.

By all rights, the game should be playable on 1440p 60fps, and the first 4 hours were fine..... Until I reach my first Eikon battle with Garuda , and my GPU died on me while Clive was transforming into Ifrit.

Had to do a hard restart everytime it happened. I even updated my bios and Nvidia drivers to latest, and STILL the issue persisted.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, is this game so damn unoptimized that a 2 year old mid ranged GPU have trouble running it.

How'd you guys deal with it on weaker or similar spec to mine?

Sorry not exactly what you asked, but I had higher specs (4090 and 7800X3D) and the game still crashed anyways, the game seems to just be buggy for some people, in another thread there are people claiming that rolling back to nvidia driver 561.09 and setting a frame cap to 60 fps is what fixed their crashes, I refunded it so have not tested this, still on the fence on buying it again before the sale ends, but I feel like SE should be on top of this not me.

Played to completion plus the dlcs at 1440p with 60+ fps on a 3060 with zero issues.

zero % helpful. What are your settings? Did you change anything or do anything different that the rest of us who are struggling are unaware of?

try to check the useage of GPU RAM.
Maybe is over 8GB at playing

The game didnt shut down your pc, your lackluster power supply did lol.

Wait for Krypto to come in here and tell you that his game never crashes lol.

Hooo boy, I have my suspicions, but does a 3070 really pull that much power when gaming at 1440p? Psu calculator had my rig pegged at just below 600watts. I had expected 750w to be enough of an overhead.

It had served well enough for the 2 years running, even running FF7 Remake and even MH Wilds demo without conking.

I would double check everything, but your GPU and CPU might be cutting it close. If all things peak at the same time, then maybe? Did you overclock anything? Including RAM.

Hasn't crashed for me. Dunno what to tell you.

Is it so hard for you to grasp, just once, that some people don't have issues in their games? Doesn't mean the game is flawless for everyone, but if I don't have problems, I can't and won't share the sentiment of others by saying the game is "unoptimized" or "broken" when I don't HAVE those issues.

Come on now.

I'm playing on a 2070, 32GB RAM, Ryzen 7 1800x...set it to high settings and no issues at all

Only thing I overclocked was my ram. The rest are at stock settings.

I think its more of a Nvidia driver issue... Been having alot of crashes in all games across the board...

Ohhhhh... never overclock RAM. I would bet my bottom dollar that is it. The symptoms even sound like a RAM issue (like not instantly powering down which would signify power trouble) I never had a PC build where overclockong RAM didnt cause an issue at some point. I even had multiple friends do the same thing and we diagnosed it to be the RAM overclock.

Running a 3070fe and 5800x3d here, I haven't run into any crashes but the game slows to a crawl occasionally even with using the low settings preset at 1440p. The big bahamut fight got stuck at 10-15 fps pretty early on, that was painful to get through lol

Welp, it happened. FF16 literally crippled my 3070. After the last crash, and restart, the game immediately froze at the title screen, and just jammed right there.

Even tried to run Heaven benchmark to see what's up, and it crashed too. Sent it to RMA with 3 months left in warranty, and the PC shop was generous enough to lend me a 4070 to try out.

Popped that sucker in, Heaven benchmark running smoothly, and FF16 can boot up and ran flawlessly capped at 72fps for 3 hours straight past Garuda Eikon fight.

Man, PC gaming.........
