oh,maybe FFVI
Tales is my favourite jrpg series and you know I think one of the reasons is that it is consistent. I mean some games are still better than others, but still, when you buy a tales game, you know what you're going to get for the most part.
Final fantasy has never been that. Every entry has been significantly different from the last. Some people like some, others like others and thats fine.
Some people mistake the foggy goggles of nostalgia for quality. And while I guess I can't blame them for that since its a normal human response, its something to be mindful of, at least.
BTW looks people skipped Stranger of Paradise and it is one of the best modern FF. For that reason I don't take people serious in this matter, because most of them have not played all FF games.
FF15 was middling, most other mainlines are fantastic games in their own rights, including this one. There's no like... Standards to adhere to for series of games like this, maybe they can just vibe with what they want to make.
Unless you'd want them to start making games they don't want to make, like the slop we get in the west ? :P
As well they should, they've made final fantasy games for decades now im glad they do different things
FF 13 has a really good battle system.
Why? Cause you can beat up your party to make them gain more HP?
The upgrade system is really easy to work with once you understand the basics.
The level design is not much different from FF10 where nearly every path was a straight line, same with FF7, 8, 9, in dungeons.
The combat system is really good because it requires constant swapping of paradigms to deal with the shifting nature of the enemies. You cannot win battles effectively by just using commando the entire game.
The narrative, however, is not the best. I agree with that.
