Gameover on fight between Phoenix and Eikon of Fire

I thought maybe I missed something but in my game I can't restart this battle if I lose, but I also can't win it. If I'm firing the whole time as Damnation is charging, I die and don't heal up. If I don't fire, I die. My impression is this is a poorly optimized and poorly released demo.
There is no indication of what to do in that cinematic either to progress.
Anyone else stuck due to this scene?

at the beginning, you just need to spam him and he lmust be low hp enough

If you get the game over screen, there are invisible retry and return to menu buttons under the game over text that you will see when you hover over them with the mouse. If you retry, you are put back in the battle at full hp with the eikon already injured.
You just need to attack it as fast as you can while it is casting damnation.
