Should I play the DLCs before or after beating the main story?

No they are not prequels. I did them after doing all the side content (beside chronolits) and just before the final boss of the base game, it's the right time to do them. First one is quite short but they are both worth playing imho.

Due to the way the story ends, you should play them before the final quest.

Although I liked the game , Im 31h in a bit tired already, and about to face the final boss.

Yes there is new equipment better than the one in the base game, an eikon, cool bosses, nice locations and songs, but maybe the price of the season pass alone is a bit high, since they don't take that long to complete, I bought the complete edition a while back.

Already finished Echoes of the Fallen and I really enjoyed it. Love the additional lore and the fighting.
Just started Rising Tide and man this one is beautiful.

You have to do the DLCs first because after MSQ there's no going back. Both DLCs open up right before the start of last mission.

Echoes and then The Rising Tide. Those two quests should've been part of the main storyline. It really does give the ending more meaning and you will learn more.

Yes, a nice change of... weather compared to the depressing atmosphere of the base game. Wish there was the chance to experience the rest of the locations with the same lightning.
