FINAL FANTASY XVI

FINAL FANTASY XVI

This is a terrible port to PC
I rarely have issues relating to my hardware. I try to keep them up to date with exception of having to rollback my Nvidia 4090 drivers here and there. This game will not start at all. I have done literally almost everything possible to fix this. I updated my BIOS, Win 10, Nvidia, Chipset drivers, overclocked/underclocked GPU/CPU, scan integrity files, uninstall/reinstall, change swap drives from one m.2 drive to another, cleared out all %TEMP% files, flushed and cleared out all Nvidia caching manually, swapped GPU to different slot (that made no sense to do it but I tried).

I know there are more powerful PCs out there but mine is not that bad.

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D (yes BIOS changes for this CPU version)
ASUS TUF Gaming x570-PLUS (WI-FI) board
64GB DDR4 RAM clocked at 3600Mhz
PNY Nvidia RTX 4090 (use MSI afterburner to adjust as needed)

This is the only game that will not load. I mean even on POE2 I have issues like not able to save my changes but at least that game works and is in Early Access. This game is not acceptable and sadly I doubt I will get a refund as I have had it too long but shows only 1 min played time.

I actually think I screwed up buying FF Rebirth coming out as it was on sale. Maybe I should go ahead and cancel that pre-order also
Yeah. They seem to have focused on the console version. The PC port is probably only an afterthought.

yeah sadly that looks correct.... sadly I got this:
We will not be granting a refund at this time. The date of the purchase exceeds 2 weeks (our refund policy maximum).

FINAL FANTASY XVI - Playtime: None

Purchased: Dec 2, 2024 PST

So yeah I just put in refund for the new Rebirth game coming out - why bother give them my money and stress added
Random question, did you install it on a SSD or HDD?

I definitely did after playing this.

I had to wait about a year before modders figured out what the issue was with Intergrade, not making that mistake again.
I have a 4090 and had just about no issues at 4k. The game crashed twice during a cutscene and I had to redo a couple of big fights. Probably something else going on with your set up.

Square is notorious for bad PC ports and never fixing issues within them.

I only have two m.2 cards on this rig

The other thing i can think of is that the game reacts weird to certain AMD cpus. My friend who has the same cpu has had nothing but issues with ff16. He is waiting for his other friend who has a similar cpu who got the game to work he had to mess with the active cores (I believe) and do a bunch of trial and error. Once he tells my friend and my friend shares what he did with me ill post it here maybe that can help you out since you cant refund the game.
Works fine on my 4090, 14700kf on a b760 Aorus Elite Ax mobo with 32gb kingstom fury beast.

Have you tried rolling back to driver version 561.09? Thats what I'm on, and a few people also with high end gpus claimed that helped them too.

Though it was never a problem booting, so it could be something else. Still, perhaps worth a try? I've also heard some people say turning rebar off helped them.

SE just don't care about PC ports. I've heard most are bad.

I had no issues with FFX HD and FF12ZA, but again these are 2000-ish PS2 games.
170GIGs space on an SSD good luck.

It's very bad port, I regretted buying it preorder, coat me €70 with DLCs, I couldn't even play it on my PC, I played it on Geforce Now because I can't get through cutscenes, I will never buy anything from Squareenix, they lied about the minimum requirements.

I don't know about port but my GPU (gtx 1650), can't even run this game past 15-20 fps, when i could run FF 15 perfectly fine, and i don't even see much difference in graphics.

It's a shame Capcom choose to restrict buyers like that, i'm sure they will miss somes sales on people with more modest pcs
