Best Characters Die too Early
Leaving behind the boring ones. Finished the game, found the combat the best of any in the FF series. Writing was excellent, but the characters sucked in the second half of the game because the most interesting characters in the game died.

Nah all died at the best time. But too bad the ending is so sad. SE also missed the chance to give us a alternative "happy" ending after beating the game in the Final Fantasy difficulty. :(

yeah the best charter did die 1st Joshua (kid), they should've kept him around allot longer

But he isn’t dead. Have you even played the game?
And then Bryon and Mid the only two good characters proceed to do nothing.
Yea, this game really captivated me with the storytelling. Favorites come, favorite go. I think this game portrays resistance against imperialism and exploitation perfectly. And the ending was absolutely bittersweet, great game.

yes, but i prefer him when he was a kid
Idk whose spouting that nonsense but the writing is not excellent. I did not feel anything when flappy bird died after 4 hours of cutscenes. sure she has history with cid but that don't mean beep to me. She was very plainly black and white run of the mill villian.
Joshua as a kid was better as a character. The "I'm brooding and hiding secrets" thing got old. Even in the final boss pre-cutscene he finally figures something out, and its a thing he never really bothered to talk to Clive about. I do agree with the overall sentiment that characters kinda collapse in quality after the Bahamut battle.

The writing is excellent. But the story needs work. Given the constraints of the story they had to work with, the writers did a good job. The reason I felt nothing about "Flappy Bird's" death, too, is because she didn't do much of anything story-wise before she was killed off. If I could change the story, I would expand greatly on Flappy Bird's background, and give her a redemption arc where she has to confront the results of all of her past mistakes, and why it's a bad idea to make deals with the devil.
My only gripe with the story was that the youth portion was too short, I wish they had more dev time to flesh that out a little bit more. Some filler to see the characters spend time together at a festival or expedition with the intro we have being hour 9 to 10
