Why this cliche anime climax stuff?
I was eager to accept this game for it's gameplay, as i'm a fan of action games. I'm also a very strict FF fan in regards to what i consider FF. I haven't liked one since FF10. And since FF11, with every game, I'm like: When are you going to give us what we had before?

So then this game shows that square enix not only disrespects what the franchise is from a gameplay perspective, but from a storytelling perspective as well. i'm sitting there cringing at the contrast between meaningful subtle emotional stuff and cliche get out of your comfort zone -> super powers unlocked.
And then the game throws flashy special effects and "epic" style choir music everywhere, which is very "look at how cool this is". Except i'm still hoping for the game to deliver on more FF-like stuff. So I don't think it's that cool.

It felt like i was being made fun of, and i was just sitting there in disbelief.
And at that moment i turned it off. I just turned the game off.

I buy Final Fantasy games with a certain expectation. They are jrpg games where you control multiple characters, and customize them, and go on an adventure, and they're a team, and it's comfy. But that's not what i got when i bought FF16.

I'm so frustrated that i'm powerless to communicate to square enix how insulted i am by what they're doing to this franchise. Perhaps make the next final fantasy game a racing game. The sky is the limit when you don't give a crap.

If you hate everything “fantasy” in a final fantasy game then maybe its time to move on to a more “realistic” games like GTA V

Your post seems to be intended to judge or bait.

You can try again, and maybe do a little bit of understanding or empathy. You know. Stuff you do when you talk to actual real people

as I’ve said you seem to hate any fantasy element in this game like super power and magic (seriously??). maybe a realistic medieval game like kingdom come deliverance is more your cup of tea

you’re the only person getting insulted by epic choir music and super power in a final fantasy game

I'm not interested in having a debate or being judged for my opinion. That demotivates expression and connecting with people.

you’re literally posting your opinion on steam forum. If you post your opinion on a public forum then be prepared to be judged.

Doesn't matter how you justify it. I don't like how you're treating me. Are you going to continue?

There are people crying over FFXVI since its launch on PS5, the self-proclaimed "strict ff fans"

And yup, ffxvi is really good!

It's not hard to see why they are making the newer style of games. Look at the profit charts. Even adjusted 1-6 combined made less than 7 and 7 made nearly as much as 8-10 combined. And which game has gotten a full remake for more sales? FF7 of course.

Then looking at the more modern set of games, 13 and 15 came in noticeably higher than even FF7 did. So in spite of your opinions, or community opinion in general, it's just better business for them to make the newer game styles.

(Yes I know the mmo's are there too and they make considerably more than all other categories. But it's a vastly different pricing model)

Yeah that's most likely the reason, but they're still using the Final Fantasy name. That is the problem.

It's like turning gran turismo into a power up kart racer. People are going to keep complaining until the turn it back into what gran turismo is.
In case of FF they have not giving fans what they wanted since FF11 being an mmo. So people are still complaining about that, obviously.
No one ever complained about kingdom hearts, xenogears, or Saga Frontier being different, because they carry different names. It's meant to be different, and people respect that.

So while i'm still waiting for them to acknowledge people like me, they keep doing more and more extreme stuff. Stuff that is interesting and impressive, but doesn't have the same flavor.

It's been 23 years man, it's time to let go.

I feel like the devs really really oversimplified this game so more people will play it, but now I don't want to play it cause it is really basic now. I loved how all the final fantasy games before this one had crafting and spells you can cast and all types of heals you can use now its just so BLAH.......

I've been playing FF since I was a kid, in the 90's. I'm now 34 and personally I'm really enjoying this one. It's something new and refreshing. I've played them all except the MMO ones, because that just isn't my jazz.

People are acting like FF have never tried anything new. They have since 11, going MMO, and then 12 when getting rid of the random, turn-based battles. Not sure why these people are pulling a surprised Pikachu face all of a sudden with 16. FF have been trying new things for the last 20 years

Perhaps they should go try a different random battle, turn-based RPG, like Dragon Quest or something if they miss it that much. There are plenty about.

lol you are clearly not a Final Fantasy fan.

I'm really glad FF16 does not have a turn based combat system. I would have liked a game with party members that are always with you, and you can control them, but we got that with FF7 Rebirth, so I am happy either way.
