FSR 3 vs DLSS 3
I’m curious what other people with Nvidia cards think about the FSR vs the DLSS in this game? I hadn’t even tried it, as FSR has been pretty universally inferior to DLSS in image quality. But out of curiosity I tried it, and performance with frame gen is roughly the same. As far as I can tell, at least in the area I’m in, FSR actually looks a bit better than DLSS. I have noticed in every part of the game so far, that objects and terrain in the distance looks muddy and blurry with DLSS. But with FSR, the distant terrain looks sharper, closer to native in my opinion.
The TLDR is, Nvidia owners, what’s your opinion on FSR 3 vs DLSS 3 in this game in regards to image quality?

DLSS = much better visual quality, but FSR3 for this game is the way to go, with frame gen. Keeps the game above 100 FPS for me in most parts.

While using FSR, I was having some ghosting issues with faces during cutscenes. I think disabling depth of field has helped with that though. Considering I have a 3080 I'll just be using FSR now so I can use its frame generation. DLSS does seem like it has less issues but if you don't have a 40 series then I don't think it's worth using.

FSR has been amazing for stopping any stuttering or frame drops, unless you are far below recommended, the fps gains on FSR with almost no noticeable dip in visual quality is too good to pass up.

DLSS3 seems to blur everything quite a bit.

FSR3 is good if you don't have a capable GPU, otherwise DLSS surpass it in every other ways, honestly it's fell unfair to compare them, one use hardware the other's software only...even console are starting to use hardware upscaling(PS5 pro).

What I noticed is that DLSS is a lot more stuttery in this game compared to FSR in condjunction with FG. It's a much smoother experience at the price of a drop in image quality.

I own a 3070 and while I could use DLSS and lock myself at 60, I'm starting to like the smooth gameplay offered by FSR more. The grainny artifacts, ghosting and blurriness in general is very noticeable though. So it's a dillema which you must pick: More FPS, smoother gameplay but worse image quality, or choppier, more stuttery but with considerably better image quality?

I also noticed this game loves system RAM, like a lot. It uses up to 14 Gigs along with managing itself in VRAM relatively well by keeping my VRAM usage almost full.

I do wonder though, how does the third player fares? And by that I mean an A770 16 gigs. Intel XeSS 1.3 has a really nice image quality and is very close to what DLSS offers. Certainly a much better image quality compared to FSR, and I hear that Intel cards make even better use of XeSS compared to team green and red.

Anyone out there running this on a Arc 770 mind sharing their experience? Interesting discussion nonetheless.

40 Series Card? DLSS3

30 Series Card? FSR3

For the first time i choose FSR over DLSS. The image quality is much better.

I've seen this game using over 30gb of system memory of 64gb total and over 15gb of VRAM out of 16gb.

On my 3080 DLSS works better, FSR increases VRAM usage too much above 1080p to give a smooth experience with only 10gb of VRAM.

On my 6800 FSR+FG works well at over 100fps in many places at 4k maxed settings and never drops below 60fps. But some UI elements (text boxes, and other things) are very jumpy.

DLSS is terrible in this game.

Even when using reshade no amount of sharpening yourself is gonna fix it.

FSR looks a bit better

I almost never use FSR because dlss is often better but dlss is just so blurry that I don't think the in game sharpening slider works with dlss

I ran with FSR all night last night and I think you’re right. I have a 4090, so I’ve sampled DLSS and FSR both with frame gen and I think FSR actually looks better than DLSS in this game. Which is a first for me.

I’ve noticed the game uses a ton of RAM. I’ve seen it use 23 GB of VRAM and 17 GB of system RAM. I only have 32 GB of system RAM. Maybe it’s allocating more than it needs.

In my experience (ryzen 5600, 3070, 16gb) FSR+framegen had higher framerates but it felt really stuttery. My GPU constantly sat at around 60% usage and the performance felt like the framerate was all over the place.

DLSS nets me lower framerates (~70 fps) but it feels much more steady.

idk I'm still trying to wrap my head around this game. At first it was running great, and well it still runs great with some upscaling, but the vram use has exploded. And I thought dlss was behind it as legacy scaling, or just native SEEMED to improve it at first ( though native increases power draw by a lot). So I thought dlss was the problem and started experimenting with other scalers like xess which seemed to be a big improvement as well in vram usage.... at first, but then it ended up climbing as high as before.

Idk why I'm worrying so much about vram with 24gb its just 14GB is a lot for 1440p upscaled to 4k.

DLSS in this game looks like dump. Even on Quality the game looks very blurry. Best image quality is native with no upscaling (requires a lot of horepower though) and second best is FSR + Native AA + Sharpness maxed.
