We comparing expensive AAA games to niche low budget titles are we?
Or are you just trying to be witty?
yes 39 bucks is expensive, you still dont get its different for every account.
which price we ll base our discussion on? yours or everybody else's?
When I say expensive, I'm talking about how much the game cost to make. FF16 was an extremely expensive game to make
But nobody is arguing my evidence, all I've got is 'concurrent player count' doesn't mean anything when it obviously does whilst trying to be funny
Or do you guys want to pretend the less than 700 player concurrent player count for Concord meant nothing also?
It's a well known fact that the majority of a game's sales are at launch, so a bad concurrent player count show's it hasn't sold well
The highest-rated game in all of Steam history is Portal 2. It only ever had ~15k peak concurrent players.
I guess FFXVI is better than the best game on Steam! That means FFXVI is the best!
SE could go bankrupt and go in flames with the franchise and my shoulders wouldnt even shrug.
We all know that SE doesnt do well so whats the point of this thread ? Want an echo chamber praising you for being captain obvious or do you just want to vent your frustrations that one of your dear favourite franchises might as well belong to the garbage can because it turned into irrelevance now ?
Portal 2 is extremely old, the PC market has grown substantially since it's release.
in 2011 there was 3.45 million concurrent steam users, in 2024 there has been over 34 million concurrent users
That's like 10 times more steam accounts
Like I said with FF15 released to a smaller market which makes FF16 sales even more terrible. Steam is growing every year
The point of this thread?
Simply showing figures that the game has flopped, clearly the direction of FF16 is not what gamers want, things need to change
It's an old game and a short one, most people played it years ago, people gravitate towards new games, especially if they're single player
Once again, this is real common sense stuff
you won't find many 10+ year old single players games on steam with 25k+ concurrent player counts, if any, especially if they are short games
Since when do companies listen to "what players" want? They do listen to "what the CEO" wants. Regardless if their decision makes more money or not.
Games made and published by SE flop left and right.. and turn based games do not pull the numbers SE wants. Thats why they keep trying to reimagine the franchise.
inb4 you mention persona ... Yes I know persona 5 was a big hit but thats just an anomaly, knowing SE these numbers persona pulled wouldnt even be enough to satisfy that greedy piece of garbage.
It's not like I wouldn't take some great turn based game.. personally I love persona 4 and 5 a lot but I'm also realistic. SE will never change.. they will go down in flames before they will go back to the roots. Which seems to be what you want I suppose?
I've presented evidence and logic applied with common sense, not excuses
you've presented nothing
If you think this game was a huge success, knock yourself out. But when Square themselves already said that they weren't happy with the PS5 sales, it's kinda not surprising the PC version also failed to deliver
Like I said, the evidence is there, it's painfully obvious this game is a flop and this franchise is clearly in a massive decline
But one thing you can't ignore, is when Square themselves say they weren't happy with the sales, that's kinda impossible to ignore
evidence btw

Anyway, I've said what I have to say, whether you want to believe it or not, is up to you guys
As a FF fan, I'm sad to see what's become of this franchise, FF16 is not Final Fantasy and it's clearly been rejected by the players
