Game did flop. Square enix recently reported ff16 and ff7 part 2 were below expectations.

FF16 is terrible imo. The story is boring dark and grim for the same of being grim. Characters are not at all likeable. The pacing is terrible too. Everything that I hated about 14 story presentation is present in 16. Side quests are not rewarding. The ending is not rewarding. I was just left with a terrible terrible taste in my mouth after slogging through 16.

3 million units isn't low sales. The head of Square Enix has always had ridiculous expectations for sales. He even called FF7 remake low and that sold over 7 million on ps4.

It's more along the lines of "why throw away free money with exclusives?" They openly announced no more exclusivity with consoles.

Even then it doesn't because all we know is that number 1 generated more revenue than number 2 and so on. There's no way to quantify it.

It doesn't matter. The people who want it to flop will say it flopped. The goal post will be put where ever sounds the worst.

Because anyone remotely interested either played it on ps5 or watched a YouTube movie or got spoiled anyway.

Also it doesn't run optimally on cards with 8gb vram which is ridiculous.

16 and 24 don't run better either, it doesn't matter how much Vram you have its completely broken

I'm just not about paying over 50% of the price point for a game for the privilege of having it held at gunpoint by a glorified paperweight for over a year. Instead I'm more than happy to wait several years to snap it up on the cheap.

I love XIV and CBU3, but they're not immune to criticism on that front and after the big stinky diaper of an expansion story we just got, I'm not about to throw more money at them without due caution.

Why would this flop? It is mostly a console game. So most people who mostly are only able to afford console gaming already have it. Those that can afford both PC and console already had it on console during release. This is normal.
