Didn't like DD2 much though. This game was a slug. I hope you like walking.
I've a rather relatively weak PC for such an unoptimized game, so I'll probably skip it for now.
I've also heard mostly mixed opinions on DD2, so it may be better to give Capcom some time to actually fix this game.
I only experienced bad FPS in the main city Vernworth back then when it first released. I assume it had been resolved by now? Otherwise, nothing unusual worth mentioning.
So far, no issues such as shuttering, crashes, etc. happen while playing FFXVI.
I also have both and FF 16 does not look better than DD2.
16 has better backgrounds but you can't go there since it's mostly small areas and corridors.
Honestly it was so bad I forgot I even played the game. Left pause for several hours before I continued.
