FF XVI vs Dragon's Dogma 2 optimization
Hi there.
Has anyone here played both FF XVI and Dragon's Dogma 2 on their PC? I'm planning on buying DD 2, but I've heard that it also has a pretty sh!tty optimization.
Can someone here compare their performance on both of these games? As I can see, DD 2 has a slightly lower PC requirements, but AFAIK it is an open world game with bigger cities than FF XVI, so that may make performance worse.
I'm running FF XVI on medium-high settings, with DLSS+DLAA. Obviously I have some FPS drops in certain areas (mainly hideaways and some "city" areas like Lostwing), but it is more than playable for me, so I'm wondering how is DD 2 in comparison.

I have both and FF16 runs a lot better for me and looks way better. However, DD2 received some performance patches recently that I haven’t tested yet. I personally didn’t enjoy DD2 that much.

FF XVI is pretty unoptimized but DD2 is way worse. I've heard it's gotten better though, digital foundry did a vid about it recently, worth checking it out if you wanna grab it

I think DD2 was a bit less optimized but hard to say. I didn't have major performance issues with these 2 games.

Didn't like DD2 much though. This game was a slug. I hope you like walking.

Never play DD2 but FFXVI runs silky smooth for me.

Thanks for the input guys.
I've a rather relatively weak PC for such an unoptimized game, so I'll probably skip it for now.
I've also heard mostly mixed opinions on DD2, so it may be better to give Capcom some time to actually fix this game.

DD2 ran way better for me than FFXVI is currently doing

I'd give a slight edge to DD2.

DD2 ran pretty bad when you were in cities, but outside of cities, it actually ran better on my PC than FFXVI. Outside of cities I had constant 60fps most of the time, while it is very rare that FFXVI runs at 60fps.

Both run very well based on my experience, but as you're already aware, Dragon's Dogma 2 is much heavier and demanding than FFXVI, given how large and open the map is.

I only experienced bad FPS in the main city Vernworth back then when it first released. I assume it had been resolved by now? Otherwise, nothing unusual worth mentioning.

So far, no issues such as shuttering, crashes, etc. happen while playing FFXVI.

I also have both and FF 16 does not look better than DD2.
16 has better backgrounds but you can't go there since it's mostly small areas and corridors.

DD2 was slightly smoother in my case.

DD2 is way worse I refunded it and never looked back after patches.

This one is worse. In DD2 only the major city stutters for me, but it is throughout FF16. This is concerning because DD2 is an open-world game, and this one is extremely linear. HOWEVER! Vsync does make ff16 fine surprisingly since it usually ruins most games. I'd say go with more what you want, this is more of a cinematic experience compared to an actual video game, and the combat is also extremely bare compared to DD2. It's just mashing square, then dodging, it gets old.

I played Demo on my 4070 Super. Zero issues. I refused to buy the game because of brainless combat. This doesnt feel as Finalfantasy.

Honestly it was so bad I forgot I even played the game. Left pause for several hours before I continued.
