What do you consider overheating? Some people see higher temps than normal and freak out. Loading shaders puts a cpu under basically max load. What temps are you hitting on core? I hit ~81 core on a 360 rad (with a 13900k) loading shaders then back down to 54-55 the rest of the time, but thats not overheating.

If it's causing bsod/restart/freezing, you may want to give your rig a good cleaning and make sure you're using enough AND NEW paste when you swap coolers.

If you're using 2 diff machines that have different coolers, the above still applies and I'd suggest repasting too if you never have.

Hi sorry for not stating. two coolers on the same rig. With the AIO it was hitting upwards of 90-100 and throttling so i checked another cooler i have lying around and it did the same thing. i cleaned my PC about a week ago

This means your cooling is insufficient. Your best bet is to try reducing your overclock if you're overclocked and then undervolting to reduce the amount of power thrown at your processor. This will reduce the heat your CPU produces.

Is this with the fan speed on max

Is that core for sure or socket? Is it obly during shader loading, does it persist after, or does it return to tolerable temps after, or does it crash every time? Details man, details are important :)

Edit, also is that aio a msi aio? Are you 100% sure the fans are connected the right headers (have to ask, the vast majority of people here have 0 clue what they're doing) as per what the mobo is designed for for pump and rad fans?

i've never tried messing with an undervolt as i wasn't having issues before this but it's worth a shot

Well the 11700k does get pretty hot, and would be working pretty hard on this game, if you didn't have some kind of frame cap on ( then again, you cant get be getting that many fps with a 4060.....). You could undervolt or just underclock it a bit. And make sure you are running on windows balanced power plan. You could also set a more aggressive fan curve.

Check task manager to make sure nothing else is eating up cpu resources.

Are you running frame-gen? If you are... try not doing that, just to see if it helps, for science.

very sorry. i'm a bit flustered. it never crashed out of the three times i've had this happen. it seemed tied to the loading screen having super high FPS and thennot calming down until I closed the game. HWinfo pinged just about all of my cores and the CPU package as throttling, I dont think it's loading shaders when it happens but maybe it is.

Are you running with fps capped? If not, do that. I'd suggest using something like rtss to hardcap where you want it so you don't have to manually do it inside every game.

There's been a few games that have "forgotten" to cap fps in load screens or other things and it'll make your cpu/gpu go full ret.... special.

I haven't had this issue here but I do run rtss at all times.

that actually makes sense i kinda suspected that may indeed be an issue. thank you very much

Hey all. I’m revisiting this because I took another look. I think part of the issue is I think fans in my PC were configured in the wrong direction. I think I was exhausting hot air into it which is a wonder I haven’t had issues until now if that was the case

The short easy explanation is your system hasn't ever been pushed that hard and was able to stay at levels that wouldn't trigger alerts, IF that's your only issue.

Just an extra update to this it turns out my AIO died. I replaced it with the air cooler and haven't had any further issues with the game
