Doesn't sound honest to me. He said he LOVED every entry 1- 16 ( so, even including this one? So he loves it and its terrible?). Okay maybe that last part was a typo but I mean even really passionate FF fans admit there have been some pretty weak entries.
I mean to LOVE FF2 but think this one is nothing but a cash grab? I'm not buying it.
To be a ff14 fan, but to then think Yoshida would intentionally make a low quality game just to milk the FF name. I mean thats the exact opposite of how he fixed the original FF14, into what it is now, a very popular game and SE's cash cow. He's not a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idiot and knows what brand damage can do. Thats how he got where he is. Thats why he was put on this game. All ff14 fans know that.
Not liking the game - sure I could believe that - no game is for everybody. But I don't believe the bits around it.
He's saying a bad game is bad (ff16), so he's probably just giving his honest opinion lol.
He said he loved every single entry, I mean "I have loved and played the FF franchise from 1-16" I don't know how that could mean anything else.
The other thing is you mention how all of the ancient buildings look the same. The only ancient ruin I can even think of as you describe it is Phoenix Gate. There are not many indoor locations at all in this game and of the ones that exist most of them are not ruins at all. This leads me to think you stopped playing after the prologue so I'm not sure why you're making all these claims.
An AI written story? The scenario was written by one of the staff from XIV, a game you say you love. I am willing to believe some of this is sincere. I can totally understand not liking XVI. It takes a long time before you even get 3 eikons to play around with. The combat prior to that is quite simplistic and monotonous, especially with the more challenging difficulties locked new game plus. However, I feel like you're just hating on this game. Perhaps I am wrong, but I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.
P.S I do appreciate how you decked out your Steam profile in Final Fantasy aesthetic because it makes your post 100x more credible.
I have to say all these click baiters on social media are just bashing it because it drives traffic for them and sadly hate sells. Which says more about the general population of social media as a whole then it does about this game.
As for the battle system I think it should of been more of a mix of FFX with FF7R. Those two I think is the perfect balance for FF games going forward, but I don't work for square and I hope they figure that out so everyone can be happy with a proper battle system.
I would say in the end it's okay as a FF game, but as a game in general? It's amazing.
Instead of making this a FF game square should of made it it's own game or made it vagrant story 2. Honest this would of made a perfect vagrant story 2 with this battle system with minor changes that are inline with vagrant story's battle systems. Instead we got FF14 the single player experience. Playing as the same character throughout game drives that point home even more.
Who is this game for?
People who don't have the time to invest into FF14 or a great start off point into the FF series for 5-7 year olds.
Who is this game not for?
Hardcore FF fans who like strategies and party systems.
Not to meantion the worst port I have ever seen.
I can understand the boring gameplay might pick up later, but ffs this is terrible storytelling... QTEs are an insult they are so bad, but the storytelling takes the cake - characters dish out and receive loads of damage, but are one-hit-killed in cutscenes just because the story said so? Even after you win the fight that is handed to you? (Phoenix vs that other dude and "His Grace", I'm looking at you).
Game feels written by amateurs.
Well, try a little harder.
It's not that hard to figure out what ppl mean.
Just use your head a little and don't be dense. You can do it.
Tell me you've never played an action game without outright telling me.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, Devil May Cry would make your brain explode with how high its skill ceiling is.
