My God this game is terrible…
I have loved and played the FF franchise from 1-16. Every single one I’ve played multiple times. Hardcore 11 and 14 included…
This game is just so bad.

The story feels forced for dramatic effect and they repeatedly try to use the same point over and over again as if you haven’t already heard it 10 times earlier in the story..
We get it, blah, blah, blah… Repeat.

The battle system is so dry, simple and pointless..
Making it colorful does not change the fact that all the skills are essentially useless because spamming X has the same effect..

Every single zone is linear, repetitive and boring.. Just so incredibly dull..
Oh wow this beautiful, ancient building is so pretty, I wonder how it look insi…..
Insert same EXACT room and enemies repeatedly, plus one boring boss fight.

This is an insult to the FF name.

My freaking ringtone and message tone are from FF..
See my avatar?

This is a cheap knockoff..
I’m so disappointed.. It’s like they ripped basic lore and creatures from FF14 and just let monkeys and AI write the rest of it… 🤮
You should be ashamed of yourselves for this cash grab. How much did you pay the fake reviewers for all those 9’s and 10’s?
Ugh…

Just remove the cheat equipment. It is Square Enix's fault though. They should have made it clear that the cheat equipment should be used only when you have an IQ of a 3 year old.

The irony is you have to have the IQ of a 3 year old to not understand the very clear text message the game gives you about this equipment at the start.

But this champion clearly read 'dur dur dur items' and equipped them and now complains the game is easy.
Similar situation occurred when journalists were complaining that the game is button mashy while using all the accessibility equipments.

the game has a ridiculously high skill ceiling, and while its true you dont have to reach it to everything, that doesnt mean its not there. Assuming you arent equipped with the timely rings, which you shouldnt be with even a small amount of attention to your gear screen, mashing attack wont get you very far and a cursory knowledge of at least the break mechanic is necessary. If you want to start going at it on the scoreboards for arcade mode tho, get ready to lose to people who know its ins or outs. A lot. I implore anyone who whines that the combat lacks depth to go watch some of eyre's youtube videos for example. That fellow even in score attack restrictions is basically the donguri of ff16 in my opinion.

There are no intricacies…
Spamming X has the same effect..
You think just because you hold one button and press the same other button to make it a colorful attack changes that fact?
It doesn’t.
The combat is horrendously boring…
The combat is more fun than most games lol. The point of the combat is to have fun. I love brewing ways to chain things together. You just don't have the mind to enjoy what it offers. Because you have your narrow opinion of combat.

I just wish it went a little further similar to Bayonetta.

Please tell us how holding down a single button to resolve most encounters in FF4 (your favorite game, according to your profile) makes for a more riveting experience.

While FF16's regular encounters may be on the lamer side, fighting anything with a stagger bar is peak gaming, no matter what you think or say.

my only problems with 16 is the optional content drags pretty bad. I constantly want it to be over as soon as possible and the other is the camera angle and movement makes me dizzy. Which I have never experienced in another game before so idk why that is. But it feels way too close to clive and everything is so blurry just by moving the camera even on the slowest setting.

I think the story is great. I'm just not a fan of the linear gameplay, especially for a FF game. I agree about the fights seeming somewhat boring. Sometimes its fun and sometimes it feels like a chore doing the combat because it feels stale. The boss fights are much more interesting though because of the stagger bar mechanic. VISUALLY the game is insanely good. But they couldve done so much better on almost everything else

A big part of what is probably causing dizziness for you is that when you're moving in a given direction the camera is constantly auto-rotating to follow that direction of movement, as opposed to just following your character at a static angle. This is probably fine for console/controller players, but with M+KB it's pretty frustrating, at least for me.

Unless this stuff is auto equipped in the demo he's not wrong. Combat is stupidly basic for how adult and curse wordy the story is, its a huge mismatch. I couldn't even finish the demo it was so bad.

Boring main character, no party

Sloppy crowd cgi in the intro battle scene, blending together and all copy paste of one character.

Invisible walls

Jump-height cliffs that you can't seem to jump on unless there is a glowing arrow.

x,x,x,x, rb.... spam fire spell, it auto aims, x,x,x,x, rb

Play FFX, it is underrated. Such a great story and basically a different version of the GOAT FFVII. Also I would play blitzball by itself, the other mini games are pretty fleshed out too. Such a fun vibe and great dynamic party characters. Even this turn based combat is more action than XVI, you have to make strategic choices in a short time.
it is auto equipped in the demo

it's boring at the start but gets better when you get abilities and other stuffs.

Or disabilities... but that's something only someone with some understanding could grasp, not like you it seems.

Reviewing the game that you didn't even own. How shameless lmao

I love people that say "it's linear!" as if all Final Fantasy games aren't just linear interactive movies. "The combat is just mashing X!", yes, like holding down "Fight" to grind levels while running around in a circle in the area with the strongest monsters.

The posts read like people who've never actually played Final Fantasy.

it ain't even good for a none FF game.
heck even DMC 1 atleast had different weapons (kinda), combo timings for each and whatnot.
cramming this system in a wanna-be-rpg was the worst decision SE did in a long time...and they've done some pretty bad things way before Square and Enix fused.
the rest is kinda okay, some parts are even pretty good: but the gameplay is horrific, the mechanics outside of the combat ain't much better to begin with. this gotta be the worst character customization and itemization in a big budget modern (j)rpg.
if i just imagine for a second they put in the effort to create a good game ontop of a good presentation i get kinda sad.
heck i cannot even imagine SE creating a game like Atlus or Larian do and did, like deep turnbased combat with great ooc mechanics, like real gear-systems or character customization that is atleast onpar with something like f*cking Borderlands.
but they could atleast try to create a good action-slop-game. which they failed to this day.
1 weapon type? barely any existing combo variety? "skills" with long...like long cd times?
staggerbar over everything else? QTE? re-skinned enemies all over the place?
"the battle system is great" get out of here....not even "fans" of 16 would talk like this.

Not only that but he claims to be a ff14 fan. Anybody who is a ff14 fan, really. Would know Yoshida would not do a 'cash grab.' Okay maybe the game didn't hit every note they wanted to hit.

But to think he would do something deliberately low quality just to rake in money from the name. That part bothers me. He wouldn't do that.

The original ff14 (before rebirth) made it clear, they can't just puke out garbage, call it FF to make money, it will backfire, like it did with the original ff14... and why the new ff14 is so popular, is because its by Yoshida and he understands that, and he's also the producer of this game.
