This game any good?
My favorites are 12, 6, 8, 9. Least favorites 4, 13. My favorite JRPG is Crono Cross or maybe tied with Grandia.

Think 16 is the game for me?

I really like it. Just be careful, its very demanding so you need a good computer. Ideally you want a gpu with more than 8gb of vram. It can work on 8gb gpus, some people seem to have no problem, other people seem to have to do some tweaking but just so you are aware, I would not go off the recommended system requirements. You want 12GB vram, 16gb ideally.

I would have considered myself a turbofan up until 13, didn't like 15 from what I played. But I definitely think 12 was peak gameplay.
12 was good, Still a great game, but wasnt on the pre-11 level. 13 was meh, it started getting questionable. 15 was so bad I couldnt finish. 16 was so bad I couldnt start.
I dunno. 12 has it's flaws but by far its the most enjoyable gameplay for me. Evolved the formula (which went nowhere evidently). Good to know 16 isn't so good, though.

Sounds like you haven't been playing FFs long enough. That trend started among the fans way earlier than with FF11. Even for FFVII, the FFVI fans were furious about how the lego block graphics were just a step backwards, and Sephiroth was such a letdown villain after Kefka. Also FFVII and FFVIII didn't feel like real FF games for them since they were set in modern or futuristic worlds rather than medieval ones.

The series have always been changing, and whenever the series have done something differently, the fans have been deeply upset, and they've always felt like different = bad. Then when FFIX came out and it went back to the series' roots, the fans gave it negative reviews saying it was just unoriginal and not even close to the quality of FFVII and FFVIII - which they bashed for not being real FF games when they came out.

The gameplay evolved and had both pros and cons along with it. I like being able to move my characters, but I dislike losing the bit of control of my party members. Swapping and micro managing my party members didnt feel very rewarding.

DQ11 was closer. We get to move the characters, and we get complete micro management of all party members. I just wish position meant more in DQ11

The dude you met on chat roulette who told you that was probably talking out of his ass. Comparing this to FF7 is never going to be a win for FF16 in any way you look at it. Terrible decision that will do nothing but backfire.

Find me 1 person on this planet who thinks FF6 is incredible but FF7 is unplayable trash.

Throw a stone on this forum without hitting a person who thinks FF7 is a god tier game while this is trash. I doubt you will get through many stones.

And the floor is made of floor. The problem started happening when the series started releasing trash games, not when it started changing.

I mean I'd say 6 is my favorite behind 12 and 7 was nothing special to me. If anything, 7 is pretty low tier IMO. 8 was the superior story, just bland design, and 9 was incredible.

DQ11 any good? I've only played 3 and 4 to completion.

DQ11 basically picks up where FF10 left off. Its just as good.

Recently purchased and I'm hooked on it. Really enjoying it, the darker storyline and mature way in which the characters are dealt with. I haven't found the combat super challenging, even on action mode, but its still very fun and def worth the discounted price atm.

Best final fantasy since 10, it has pacing issues and exploration is extremely barebones but the spectacle, story, combat, strategy, music are all top notch.

The real question here is if you like hack and slash games like Devil May Cry, Bayonetta and Destiny Warriors.
If you like those games, then don't bother because 16 is simply a pale imitation by people who didn't understand what made those games good
its literally made by the same person who was behind DMC5 combat

moron LOL

Played from start to finish and even smashed out FF mode in new game +. Loved it

FF16 is like 12 in some ways, but all of the systems are massively watered down compared to 12. If not for the good story in FF16 and the incredible visual design, it's nowhere near on the level of FF12.

FF15 is also a better "game" because it has far more depth and potential to explore and set your own path, but FF15 story and characters fall short. FF15 was a much bigger project where they had to rush the last 40% of game development to get it out the door which is why it turns from a completely open world game to a completely linear game in the last half. FF16 is a more finished product, but it's much less of a game, it's a linear action game rather than an RPG.

FF10 is overrated because of nostalgia, still good, but I thought 12 was better. Blitzball was so awful.

10 was probably the most complete package of all the FF games. The most endgame content, the most secrets, most challenging, best level ups, and most important of all: the most technical of a grind.

The way you can do things that seem like they should take millions of years by abusing in-game mechanics. Its probably the most JRPG of all JRPGs ever made. Although DQ11 is up there too.

I bet you I can 1-shot the negative time chocobo race still. The technique for doing so is tough to figure out, but you can eventually feel it out.

You actually have to strategically plan your gear/level up strategy to take on the end game bosses. You have to farm gear at certain roadblocks. Troubleshoot different armor configurations to fight them and kill them as fast as possible.

No way does this software even come close to as good as 10
