This game any good?
My favorites are 12, 6, 8, 9. Least favorites 4, 13. My favorite JRPG is Crono Cross or maybe tied with Grandia.

Think 16 is the game for me?

I'm pretty sure they never removed the demo so you can download and see for yourself.
The real question here is if you like hack and slash games like Devil May Cry, Bayonetta and Destiny Warriors.

I agree with Dagny on this. This game doesn't feel like a normal Final Fantasy game. I've only played about 10 hours or so in it, not sure how far I am. I personally have mixed feelings about the game as is.

Don't let the demo fool you. Starts off great but it falls off rapidly. I'm over halfway through and I don't know if I'll finish it

Character action games? Love them. Dynasty Warrior and Drakengaard type though with squads and armies? Never got into it.

I thought it took cues from Soulslikes and Dragons Dogma type action RPGs?

There is nothing soulslike about it. Think DMC combat with abilities reminiscent of Titan, Garuda etc. the combat can be really fun if you are into trying out and learning combos. And if not for that, the story and overall spectacle are enough already for some to enjoy it.

Not the squads, the bosses. I watched a few videos of Dynasty Warriors Origins and the boss is almost the same: yellow ,,bar" that stagger the boss when you deplete it, OP dodge, dramatic zoom when a big attack is about to happen, non-stop attacking because what's stamina? we don't do that here.

And I agree with Vasco, the story and characters are very good.

The Final Fantasy releases have been getting worse every time since 11. So in a way, every FF game that has released since FF11 was the worst FF game ever made.

Why not 12?

I would have considered myself a turbofan up until 13, didn't like 15 from what I played. But I definitely think 12 was peak gameplay.

IMO as a long time FF fan not really. Its not really an RPG. Skill unlocks are locked behind story progress more than level of your hero. So think of using the main skills for a decent amount of time before you get new one. Combat is just hack and slash spam. I get people say your doing it wrong. You can do all these special combos that look cool or do more damage. That is true, but all your still doing is hack and slashing. Almost no real thought into the skills you need to use. I don't mean that as combos like a fighting game. I mean as is in nothing has a weakness to ice or fire for example. This makes a boss the same as every small enemy you fight. Spam the same combos as always and use the best damage skills you have unlocked forever. As far as Summons, unlike other FF game they don't exist in the normal sense. You cant summon ever normally. Only during special scenes in the game. They are more boring QTE events that tell you to dodge. If they don't than its obvious when to do it. Each Summon only has a few skills. So the fight is spam dodge and 1 or 2 skills over and over. It looks cool for sure but not really a fight. Skill tree is meh, unlock a summon that you cant use... Than you unlock a small tree that has some of his skills for you to use. Most items are super generic, like adds 7 to damage or you take 10% less damage. Gone are the tactical battles. No party control other than your dog that has 3 skills. IMO its a pure action game. This game is as much a RPG as the new GOW is honestly. Im not sure ill even finish it. IMO the new FF7 remake blends action with actual JRG way way better in almost every single way.

Im like 15 hours in and some parts sure do drag and feel like an eternity not gonna lie. But then other parts are epic... Its no FF7 or FF8 but its good for what it is

If you like those games, then don't bother because 16 is simply a pale imitation by people who didn't understand what made those games good

This is my first final fantasy besides tactics, and I love the epic eikon fights, voice acting, combat (without tutorial accessories), and visuals.

A crappy DMC knock-off.

Fights involve 2 or 3 damage sponges for 10 minutes. Flashy moves but near to no damage.
Running from one end of a corridor to another just to get 10 gil.
The "RPG" elements in this game is just equipping a sword, armor & accessory. Each you get +1 variations through out the story.

The story is fine but overall, gameplay is so boring.

12 was good, Still a great game, but wasnt on the pre-11 level. 13 was meh, it started getting questionable. 15 was so bad I couldnt finish. 16 was so bad I couldnt start.

Basically this has the combat from FF15 except it doesn't feel like every combat ends as soon as it starts and there's actually some level of skill involve (dodging). Eikon abilities also spice things up.
