I Like what i've seen in FF16, but when i tried the demo it ran like crap on a I9 12900K, 32GB Ram, RTX 3060. Frame rate at 30 FPS dropping to 12FPS during scenes (I run RE4 Remake at 4k). Square Enix ports for PC were always lame (remember the 15 FPS on FF13?) but this is beyond acceptable.
Star Ocean is also really bad since 5.
Either go for some classics or stuff like romancing saga if you want a somewhat decent experience by SE.
And if you want a real JRPG, don't play games by Bamco or SE at all, their time in case of JRPG is more or less over (unless they decide to go back to the roots)
I liked Star Ocean 6!. I mean, it definitely isn't a masterpiece but it was a pretty solid game, it has some flaws but none that was a deal breaker.
FFXVI is kinda the same i think. Good game but not perfect. I wish that it wasn't so leaned towards action but oh well, it's not the end of the world for me.
I think that a lot of criticism around the internet is kinda nonsense, Every game is expected to generate a revolution. I mean, it's a game that served it's purpose. People need to chill out a little and just try to enjoy
Now, going back to the topic, no, the game is extremely demanding and i don't think the game will get patched to make it better. The only solution is to upgrade the PC (sadly). Just keep in mind that we'll now need a lot of VRAM, 8 Gb is already the bare minimum, 12 Gb will do fine but not for a long time. I would go for 16 Gb.
RTX3060? LOL.
Game still runs like ♥♥♥♥ even on higher end hardware and I dont see the devs fixing it anytime soon
Well if you play older FF games or real JRPG's they're basically more or less a revolution.
All of them were unique and extremely well written.
The better the graphics of a game the less I expect it to be any good at least in case of RPG's. Dragons Dogma 2 was also really bad compared to the first game in case of the game itself including the story.
The problem is the most normal people just know the mainstream and never give anything they don't know any chance which is a shame. The more unknown products are most likely the ones that shine nowadays.
In case of SE: Dragon quest was kinda solid and the remake of Romancing saga 2 were also quite well designed. (the story wasn't world changing but fair enough)
Everything non FF related improves quite a lot for a while already while FF is losing more and more identity. Even on PS4/5 all FF games are flopping badly for many good reasons.
FF16 isn't bad but its lazy designed for such a giant budget.
They never bothered improving the performance nor make the game like a real FF RPG.
You basically just swap weapons, a small skill tree that isn't even a skill tree.
The combat is okay, not great but its acceptable.
The critics to this game make sense, some just overreacted with their words.
Are 15 and 16 still FF? No they're something different that not many people enjoy under this franchise.
This game is basically the quality level of a low budget studio which was 100% focused on upscaling and assets instead of the core.
Game performance isn't great either no matter what hardware you have. (Not as bad as Monster hunter wilds) but still kinda odd since it doesn't even look that stunning in case of graphics.
Can the game be fun to a certain point? I'd say yes but not until the major issues are fixed.
I think its worth playing once and never again once you finished it but still SE can do a lot better, they still prove it sometimes with their other smaller franchises.
Its kinda sad that they treat FF like this which is the franchise that made them big in the first place.
FF4-9 were made with passion and heart.
Even tho I know 10 was kinda hated by many, I still think it had its touch.
12 was a bit weaker in the story but overall still pretty solid.
I'm not against action combat, its about the core of the product itself.
I'm fine with both combat designs as long its well done.
There are tons of good JRPG out there, FF turned more into a not sure how to call it,
I want to be west but I'm not design (its a bit difficult to find a good description for it)
If they fix the performance issues I'd might recommend it on a decent sale, but for now I'd say look elsewhere there are plenty of much better RPG's at the moment
Do you remember what SE did with Nier Automata?
Performance patch was released 4 years after the game was released. Because Game Pass version had better performance, Steam version got a huge review bomb, which led to the 4-year patch.
Even though they could have fixed it 3 months after the release.
SE just treats their customers as idiots, especially second-class PC customers.
Interesting, back then I played Nier on PS4.
I barely follow a game on a platform I haven't touched the game unless its some serious scam with hidden mining or something like that.
But to be fair, Nier was a very very good game overall, but sure... a good performance is important since you want to get the full experience out of it
I bought Nier Automata on ps4 too and it has been patch updated many times in first month.
But the PC version which I mainly play, there is no patch released except for the patch SE want to sell DLC, and there was a performance patch 4 years later because of Review Bombs.
This is where the second-class PC customers comes from.
