Just to let you know, both have different context-meaning pairs. (At least in the demo)
The Japanese dub context is introductory (continue the story explanation later), while the English dub is more "explain right here right now".
This just means both are not as comparable (which is better) as they are to be enjoyed on their own.
In short, pick whichever suits you better, neither will disappoint.
It's so badly done that first you get the sound and then you see the lips moving silently.
I've played through with both and wound up settling on English simply coz it fits the theme and characters.
Becuase in the demo seems to be english only. :(
Usually I play game in original, so it should be Japanese... but now I'm uncertain.
In most Final fantasy the translation, also of subtitles, were very bad.
FFXVI has also dub in my local language (italian) But I don't know, usually italian dubs in game (or anime) are horrible.
The sync will be fixed in final release also in other languages?
Unlike in the past where the JP voice was the original and the eng dub was the bolt on afterthought, its the other way around here. The game's script was written in-tandem with the EN and JP teams to be EN first and foremost, then JP dubbed afterward.
However, the JP dub definitely is also very good, so play through with both and decide yourself. Certain characters may/may not be better in one or the other. I've played through multiple times on PS5 with both voice sets and both have their own unique merits to appreciate.
Yup. The english just 'fits'. The fact that it is an ENGLISH setting ie medieval Europe fantasy helps as well. The only reason it wouldn't fit is if the eng VA's were garbage, like they used to be in past dubs. They got a top notch voice cast here, esp Ben Starr's performance as Clive, so yeah... its hard to go past it and this is from a diehard eng dub hater such as myself.
I will take some time to decide.
Because I think I'll wait the discounts before buy it anyway.
70€ is too much, and buy the regular game now to buy the DLC after is non sense for me since I'll pay the same.
so ye English voices for me.
tbh so far it doesnt sound so bad, voices somehow fits to characters' age and past experiences'. except joshua, i said before : he acts too mature for his age. sound fits but not what he says.
Strangers of Paradise, the entire game was done on the cheap IMO... I really have no idea who that game was even for and yeah, it had all the low cost talentless funi dubbers in it so... instant swap over to JP it was.
