More likely it's not Sony, just some plot point not very welcomed in your country.

What the hell does Sony have to do with a SQEX game on PC?

Sony has nothing at all to do with a game they neither own nor developed. They only paid for timed exclusivity but Square Enix is the one who owns it. Geez.

Maybe tone down the blame on countries. Steam has way more games that are ok in these countries than consoles because it isn't as mainstream as console market.

The blame here solely lies with Square Enix who refused to make any minor changes to the game and pre-emptively decided to region lock the game just because of one country who flagged them to make changes and so Square Enix decided to punish the whole region for that...

Really in the end, all parties being inflexible is causing us the consumer the pain and loss.

And western values doesn't equal world values btw. The world might tolerate some stuff, doesn't mean it accepts it.

Just out of curiosity, what "minor changes" are those that SE should have made to appease to a country?

The game was banned in some countries when released on playstation coz Square Enix refuse remove the gay guy
It was first banned in Saudi Arabia, then more and more country ban it.
if it was banned from the government, then nothing Square can to help.

So, just to be clear, you're advocating for a Japanese game company, to censor the dev's creative vision, because of politics?

I knew you were fishing. Lets go, as a gamer, my priority is getting and playing the game. I can't control the government and I can't control the publisher. I played a ton of games and enjoyed despite many having values that don't agree with mine or even don't represent me from any perspective.

So please, don't turn this into some form of reverse censorship. Focus on the main issue here, a game not reaching it's audience and fanbase in massive parts of the world (MENA and SE Asia). If you can't help with that, don't press on our wound by supporting the region lock... Just not cool really.

It's not reverse censorship, it's censorship, I don't want a game dev to censor gay relationships just because some politicians are still trapped in the Stone age, go voice your complaints to them and get them to change their archaic laws instead.

An Artist should not HAVE to Censor their own Art just to be able to Sell it in another Country. Sorry to inform you, but Artists dont have to Accept your Countries Morals or Laws if they dont wish to, and that goes both ways.

I get that your Upset, but if your a Fan then you should actually be happy that the Artist is not Compromising their Artistic Integrity just so they can make more Money.

Try to be realistic. Those who are ok with the content have no issues and they get their cake and eat it too in the west. While the rest of the world (I mean, MENA and South East Asia are a big chunk of the world) don't get it because SE are not willing to remove a kiss. I mean, they can keep the gay characters in the story. Our region got games that had gays for years now (Mass Effect) and will continue to get them (Concord). There is no artistic integrity being lost here and if there is, it is for a group that are ok with it. For your information, a lot of the +18 stuff we get from the west is censored in one way or another but atleast as consumers, we get to enjoy them as much as you are. Why be focused on what these regions governments should and shouldn't accept? The same way you don't accept to remove them and have the right to that, is exactly the same right they have to ask to remove them. I for one don't care as a gamer. Gays, trans,...etc. Let them do whatever they want in the game. As long as I get to enjoy the 99.9% of the game. But going from that to basically zero. Man, that is just too extreme. If governments can't change, and they won't, corporations can. No artistic integrity is being affected here. I mean, WoW removed all skulls in their games just for the Chinese. The chinese people are happy enjoying their game for years now (not sure if there has been an update on whether things changed or not, my info on this might be outdated). Blizzard did drastic changes just to cater to them. I am sure there are many chinese players who prefer the original artistic vision, but they would rather have the game as it is rather than nothing. We are asking the very same.
Let us not get hung up on exactly what is being removed but focus on a realistic way forward. Remember, a lot of regions view games as no big deal. Noone is gonna go to the streets to protest government decisions on games and if they did, they will be a small group and noone would listen to them.

I also dont agree with WoW removing Skulls for China, and I would also not be happy if any Game from China making any Changes to their Games to sell to the West. An example being Twitter trying to get them to include more "Diversity" into Genshin. Each Countries Art reflects its own Culture, and not every Culture is going to Mix. Thats just the Harsh Truth of the World.

Artists should not have to alter ANY aspect of their Art in order to sell in another Country, after all that IS Censorship. Just because you want to Play a Game badly enough to accept Censorship, does not mean others are going to be okay with it.

EDIT: Also want to add that the whole Blizzard thing is rather amusing, because in case you did not know they had a falling out. All Blizzard Games got Banned a few Years ago due to them not being willing to allow for the CCP to have even MORE control over Blizzard.
