I really want to buy this game, but...
I don't have friends to play with. Out of the few ones, no one is interested in playing games like this. And i don't even see them very often being a super isolated and introverted not good with people kind of guy.

Back in the day, i loved local co-op games, it was easier to play with other people, everything was more carefree and everyone enjoyed video games 10-15 years ago.
But without Multiplayer, it is really hard for me to get this. I have some online friends, or rather one that i play most of my games with. Especially Dark Souls.

So is this one worth getting for the Singleplayer, and the for the rather rare local game that could happen in a few months to a half a year? The price seems a bit too much for now considering just for that, and i did buy Celeste from the same developers which looked charming.

So game + expansion with almost to no friends. Yay or nay?

i was kinda wondering too. As the only one who may play this game, is this game worth it in solo?
I bought it anyway, since my friend was coming that day. Out of all the games we played, this was the most fun. He isn't into rougelites, and this was very chaotic. I think everything apart from Versus can be played Solo.

The game has some single player content, mostly the target practice but the "campaign" as well.
Dark World's campaign adds more bosses at the end of the levels which makes them a bit more difficult than the vanilla game.

But most stages pretty much follow the same basic idea. You're on a stage and there are waves of enemies spawning and you have limited revives. Kill all the enemies and the next wave starts.

Still a great multiplayer game, simplistic but still complicated enough to keep you on your feet.

You can play online using Parsec and it works really well unless you have bad internet (you'll probably want at least 15/15 internet speeds).

It's definitely better multiplayer but it's still a very good game. I don't know if I'd play it solo but i'm not much of a single player's games' player

On the other note if you will "occasionally" get to play a versus with at least 3 players chances are they'll love it. It's such an amazing game that even newbies will be able to stand their own and it gets hilarious

The post is somewhat old, but I can't see if you have bought the game yet; so here goes my incentive to buy it.

I am more of a singleplayer person; in fact I only attempted vs after I had beat the normal part of the game on single normal, single hardcore, duo normal and duo hardcore.
I found that it was very fun too to play the vs and I often play when any friend come over.
Only some two years after beating the game some number friends decided to come to play using four gamepads and it was fun, although I found to be very messy and I sometimes would die since there were three other archer spamming arrows.

The multiplayer is fun, but to play against the AI is the real beauty of the game; you can learn just the timing and action of the mob so will you have real control of what you are doing when on multiplayer people tend to go crazy.
If you enjoyed running and dashing around in Celeste you should love to try to survive on the stage while shooting down enemies.

The madness of finally getting them legendary and diamante time trial.

The archer AI is crazy good too; if the arrow can be caught they will catch it - I have more fun doing the 14º stage legendary, where you fight 35 archer bot, than on pvp.
The AI is so good to play against that I find more found doing co-op on the campaing than killing each other endlessly on the versus mode.

Then you can play versus with your little cousin, if you have one, and have fun putting a lot of power-ups on him while you with a single arrow still win the epic match with Ironman Award. e.e .

Piracy is a wretched thing, but if you are still unsure you could download it online and try it out. Then enjoy it so much you will feel like supporting the developer.

switch version will be a bit better assuming you can just use 4 joycons and be set.
