Thoughts on the Sonic 3 movie?
Finally got to see the movie for myself and it was amazing! If you ask me, it was easily the best of the three and I enjoyed just about every moment of it.

For those that have also watched it, what were your thoughts?

I loved it, my only complaint is that some Gerald and Eggman jokes went on way too long, the laser room dance even began hurting my eyes for a moment. I also wish Gerald's fight against Eggman wasn't played for laughs, especially after dropping a line as cold as "you're no Maria.".

The rest however, chef's kiss, my boy got his justice and I hope he won't suffer from amnesia in 4th movie. All we know is that he's definitely alive and picking up his rings. :ShadowGenerations:

I still need to watch Sonic 2 before 3. But I heard Sonic 3 is one of the best video game adaptions for a movie ever.

The film was great nice 4th wall break, some jokes went on a bit too much, nice to leave a lot of Shadows backstory in mystery just that he came to earth but nothing before that. Shame about the end credits scene though there's no need for that annoying pink hedgehog to turn up in the next one.

7/10 for anyone who cares for sonic lore.
8/10 for people who have no clue about sonics actual story.

Good kids movie not a good sonic movie if you like sonics lore.
Jim Carrey got more screen time then both sonic and shadow combined.

I felt like removing marias illnesses and shadow being created rather then discovered messed with how much damage her death caused Gerald.
Because it was literally Gerald's entire life's work to find a cure for her.

Also Gerald could have stayed dead. I kept wondering why he was even here. They gave him almost zero depth outside comedy gag of Jim Carrey vs Jim Carrey

Also I don't know what Hollywood had against adding the biolizard in.

Guess it's to fantastical in a world where a hedgehog can turn gold fly in space and talks.
Rogue and Amy not being in this film was also a miss.

I get the movies were never going to be faithful but I still think cutting some key elements was a bad move.

It had a lot of good moments. Movies over all messages was solid.

Sonic vs shadows fights were amazing and I love how many shadow the hedgehog game references there were.

But if eggmans dead dead that just leaves me confused as to metal sonics Creator.

The super sonic fight and the gun hq break in were the stand outs of this movie.

This is the only thing I don't like about this trilogy. Why did hollywood cast Jim Carrey of all people to play the role of Robotnik? A comedian actor to play as a mad scientist? He does not even look the part. On top of this he gets the most screen time instead of the title character that we came to actually see. This is Batman 1989 all over again, or even Batman Forever for this matter. Alfred Molina would have been a much suited role for Robotnik. He makes for a great mad scientist like his Doc Oc character.

Sonic 1st movie was in production while sonic was still deep in the self deprecating humor of the meta era.

So it's obvious why Jim Carey was chosen.
Id really love a return to SA1/SA2/satam era menacing eggman.

Eggman can be funny but I like when his punch lines actually have a helping of actual menice behind it.

I suppose for the fans who followed the games prior to movie 1 closely but it wasn't obvious to me. He still isn't who I would expect for Robotnik to look like. But then again, Sonic with blue arms.

My 10 year old niece loved it.

Myself, as an old fart who was 15 years old when sonic originally released on the megadrive, I found it enjoyable and liked some of the nods.

Also appreciate how, even though these movies borrow heavily from the source material, they deviate enough from it to still feel like its own thing as opposed to just being the same thing but in movie form.

Major plot spoilers detailed here:
Like how Shadow dies in both Sonic Adventure 2 and the Sonic 3 movie, but both handle this scene very differently. Where Shadow exhausts himself in the game due to using all his emerald energy and falls into the planet's atmosphere, Sonic is the one that exhausts himself in the movie but is still rescued by Tails and Knuckles whereas Shadow sacrifices himself from the Ark's explosion. This pleasantly surprised me, even as someone that's played a ton of SA2.

I still think they should have kept the promise in.

It is. This is the first time the movies have embraced their inner sonicness, and they are PROUD OF IT.
I found it enjoyable but the ending was too anticlimactic for my tastes. Watching Gerald Robotnik get killed on a giant bugzapper was funny but it needed some major threat other than just the ark's inertia for the final act. I was really hoping for biolizard instead of sonic and shadow finishing up the last few badniks with nothing to challenge them.

Also disappointed that "Live and Learn" was barely in the movie, they had promised it would be there but it was only played while Super Sonic and Super Shadow were onscreen together and they only really played the main chorus and it wasn't very loud.

The scene where they transform back into their normal forms on the moon and were able to breathe and have a conversation as if there's an atmosphere broke my suspension of disbelief too, every time sonic's been in space in the games he's needed the chaos emeralds to survive.

But anyways, despite the above complaints it was still a good movie and I'm still glad I saw it. I enjoyed it less than the first two and the knuckles miniseries but that doesn't mean it's bad, just that it's my least favorite entry in a series of excellent movies.

I know disney hates it but this movie is a 9/10 only thing that could have made it better is if sonic and shadow fought the final hazard
