I thought classic was an artstyle?

My belief ever since sonic 3 to Adventure, is that it was an art style choice? Now it seems less of an artstyle thing... and considering shadow even has a movie skin, I don't think sega understands stylistic choices, and just thinks it's a character design.

Like it's more realistically agreed upon that sonic always had green eyes and the adventure art style was the first to show it. rather than all characters just growing into coloured eyes?

Shadow having a movie skin is entirely different than Classic/Modern Sonic, haha. Not a worthwhile comparison at all. I think it definitely was him "growing up" between Sonic 3 and Adventure 1. I don't believe it's ever been stated to be a style choice. Maybe you meant that as just your opinion

I do believe the instruction books for the games state his age and whatnot. I guess even they have inconsistencies, though. Overall, probably best to go with whatever you think
