Boosting as Modern Sonic is making the game lag.

I'm able to play Sonic Generations as classic Sonic just fine at 60 fps with no lag but when I play as Modern Sonic every time I boost the frame rate drops form 60 fps to 45 fps. When ever I play Shadow Generations I kinda have the same issue but when I bump up the FPS to 120 its smooth and I don't have any issues. Anyone else having this issue or know how to fix it? I uninstalled mods/mod launcher, delete all saves and reinstalled the game. When I play the old Sonic Generations and I even tried Sonic Frontiers (just to see if i was having issues with other games) and they run at a solid 60 fps. So i don't know whats going on.
