General Thoughts on DLC and Future Suggestions
Overall, the movie pack DLC was very short, I think we really needed a 2nd act. 2 challenges per act. Currently, this can be completed in less than 10 minutes, it would be nice if there was a nice open area hub you could explore and 2 act gates with 4 challenge act gates scattered around. I know this is not going to happen but it is wishful thinking.

The act 1 (there's no act 2 lmao) level also is too easy, it gives a participation trophy S rank, I completed it in sub 3 minutes, and the average run is 3:30. Challenge acts are actually challenging so it's nice.

Also, I understand that using movie shadow in outside stages would need to reanimate and rerecord a lot of aspects of the base game, but that's why the DLC should have more content, kind of like a sub-game. Movie shadow is genuinely cool looking.

The only positive is that it's fully 3D, but I think a well designed 2D level would've been good as well, but it's risky because the only S tier 2D level in the base game is KV2.

To Sega: What I think should happen next is release some more challenging DLC levels. Ideas:

- Sky Rail
- The Comet
- Hard versions of already existing acts (but they need to actually be hard, not give participation trophy S-ranks)

Devil's advocate, but my first run where I took it slow and got all the collectibles (maybe too easy to do that), was 5ish minutes for a C rank. I guess good for you for getting an S rank the first try, but I don't think that's the only way it could go. I like to go slow any time I play a new Sonic level and not use much boost.

Of course more is always good, but I think even if there was a 2nd act that was at a similar time, there'd be the same complaints. Just can't win these days
atp it is definitely wishful thinking for them to add a ranking system that doesn't hand out s ranks. They haven't done that in a console game since unleashed, and the last stage they made intentionally hard to s rank was 1-2 in frontiers.

I thought the two Radical Highway acts in this game were pretty challenging for the S ranks. Primarily without the Doom Wings. Possible? Sure, but they took a couple of tries. Probably not completely comparable to 1-2, but in the same realm. Which was great for the last level

I think radical highway 1 is pretty good, both with and without, but i havent tried act 2 without wings i think. was kind of disappointing how easy it was lol.

I have to use mods or speedruns as reference for what a challenging time is to get.

It's a Sonic game, they have a top times score, you're meant to go fast. First try I was hunting for posters I got around 4 minutes but that's not the point. Compare this with Unleashed, the rankings there are actually challenging and fun.

I agree about RH1+2 but they're the last zone in the game. The point of S rank is supposed to be that you're doing the best possible strategy to beat the level. People shouldn't be offended by B or C ranks if they wanna play slow. But I'm arguing for speed-based ranking since this is a boost game. Not for a score based ranking, which wouldn't work with boost games.

pretty sure this is how unleashed's score system works, why those s ranks feel satisfying to get.

Unleashed's ranking system is speed based, but you need to level up your speed and boost in order to get a good time. For night time I think it's score based but we aren't discussing that right now.

it is based on time, for sure, but rings do matter in the score. It can help get you over that threshold. Problem nowadays is that the rank system basically means nothing except if your run had no deaths in it.

If they do DLC i kinda hope they sprinkle it between both Shadow and Sonic. I'd like Sonic to get some handheld levels in place and Shadow a lot of levels he deserved but never got here(the often mentioned Westopolis, and some other StH stages). Unless original Sonic Gens is just too difficult to modify for some reason then sure throw Shadow more levels. They def need to work on the value for what you're buying though, 6 dollars for 1 act is insane and i cant believe they had the gall to do that. A set of 3 stages, 2 acts each should be 15 dollars tops.

Yeah, but that still technically applies to the recent games, it's just that the time plays such a huge role that it pretty much makes rings not matter.

I would like that too, the only issue is that SEGA have been pretty lazy with Sonic Gens because it's old tech so I don't personally see them going back and creating DLC for that. Shadow Gens on the other hand I can see them going back and releasing some levels.

I do agree about the value, I have the deluxe edition so I didn't know about the value of the DLC but 6 dollars for 1 act and 2 challenges is not worth imo. It should be at least 2 acts (+2 challenges per act at least) and a boss for that amount.
