Game still freezes like Sonic Frontiers.
Wanted to put this out there so that people who experienced this freezing issue in Sonic Frontiers will know it still happens in Shadow Generations. Mainly people with
9th gen CPUs running Windows 11. The only fix I've found after hours of testing and research is downgrading to Windows 10.

Small update: Just over 4 hours in and it's only froze on the tutorial stage, hub world and collection room, so more playable than Frontiers so far.

and people say this game is on a new engine instead of being frontiers reskinned and repackaged just to make shadows DLC feel like a "new game" lmao.

I played 2 hours in win 11 and had no problems, probably a specific processor problem.

Yeah it's an issue with 9th gen CPUs as stated in my original post. It's been a thing for the lifespan of Frontiers as well so I don't see this being fixed.

I'm not talking about lag. The game runs great for me but freezes for 5-10 seconds while still playing audio.

Try updating Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable, that fixed it for me after a few hours of troubleshooting

Not the solution to this unfortunately. I really don't think there is one. The devs just have to fix it themselves, but that's not going to happen.

I also had both freezing in Frontiers and Shadow Gens.
The freezing in this is similar to Frontiers with 0 updates, so I was able to play through the campaign on minimum graphics, but it would freeze once every 10 minutes or so. Not nearly as many freezes as updated Frontiers though. As with Sonic Frontiers, none of the "fixes" or "workarounds" do anything for me, and its a shame that this occurs in both Frontiers and Shadow Gens.
Edit: For extra info, I'm on an 8th Generation CPU.

Has anyone actually found the source of it? Like a memory leak or something or a large memory free operation?

This has to be something with a particular hardware component and/or software installed that people have in common. I'm running things purely in the Steam Deck built off of arch linux, with not a single bug or glitch; also running lightning fast on high. It could also be due to corrupt game files. Validating and/or uninstalling and reinstalling could possibly fix the issue of that is the case.
