you can use this tutorial as a temp way of enabling ultrawide
The tool used is HxD editor instead of Cheat engine which is a lot easier
when you're in-game swap off and on the resolution you're going to use so it actually refreshes the game and takes effect.
Rendered Cutscenes don't have pillar boxes from what I've seen.
HUD is still in 16:9 position
Also generations kinda has problems with the physics and input timings at higer FPS's So that's why They're locked to 60 or 30 like before.
See HxD changing didn't work for me, but this step, not sure if I tried. Do you mean launch the game, switch to a different res, then switch back, close the game and re-open after I have HxD edited?
