Boycotting this game over censorship
I was gonna give this a buy, but now after seeing the leaked rewritten script and the needless censorship they pulled with Rouge. I will be boycotting my first Sonic game in 21 years thanks to censorship courtesy of both Ian Flynn and Hit Detection (a Sweet Baby, Inc. like "consulting firm").

I know none of you will listen, but I will not stand for the bastardization of the original game in any form, minor or major, because it does a disjustice to the original game's legacy and robs people of the original experience (for better or for worse). A remake this is not, so this is in poor taste on everyone involved's part.

I already wasn't going to buy this game because of Denuvo, but I had no idea about the whole censorship until today. How immensely disappointing.

and people, it's not about wanting to jack off to bat tits. It's about being against the idea that this needed to be changed in the first place.

SEGA censoring things sends the message that it was inappropriate and had to be changed. I wholeheartedly disagree with this message and so I won't support the product.

stop following grifting youtubers. the problem with quality of games existed long before any of these consultant companies existed.
it's called greed. companies that literally shoved millions of DLC and micro-transactions and don't bother making there games release worthy. trying to make every game a live service.
that's the actual cause of issues.

but no clearly it's the "insert fake conspiracy here" fault we have bad games now. never mind statements from bethesida where they claim there nearly 40 year old engine is "perfectly fine tune." to make new games and refuse to upgrade or make a new one for modern games.

grifters claimed spiderman would be bad they were wrong.

grifters claimed God of war would be bad they were wrong.

grifters claimed hades would be bad they were wrong.

grifters claimed bauldrs gate 3 would be bad they were wrong.

grifters claimed guilty gear strive would be bad they were wrong the game literally broke a evo reccord with how good it was.

grifters claimed space marines 2 would be bad they were wrong.

the amount of times i see this nonsensical grift push over and over is just laughable. i am tired of seeing it the doom calls for games over and over only for it to not happen.
i am especially tired of it with sonic especially where i was to young to know better and ended up not getting to play unleashed because the grifters back then told me it was bad.
only to find out it was actually great.

sorry, not sorry, but i am done listening to the grift. i will be the judge of what i enjoy. not some face on the other side of a computer screen.
I've noticed this whole "grifter" defense pops up whenever you guys seem to run out of excuses. First off, no one influenced me on my post. I myself made the discovery all on my own, free of outside influence. But sure, call me a "grifter" why don't ya? After all, it's not like I'm making money from exposing blatant changes the game didn't need.
no excuses here i genuinely think the story changes are better then the original.

knuckles not being the "idiot."
amy not being "the stalker."
tails no longer being "the useless kid."
shadow not being "the jerk,"
are changes that needed to happen.

don't forget that colors onward is the reason the term "sonics stupid friends." exists. in the first place.

Doesn't make it right, though. The game is a product of its time and should REMAIN that way for the sake of history. I bet you'd change your tune real quickly if they struck a nerve closer to home for you. This franchise has been the cornerstone of my gaming life, and to see consulting firms push SEGA to start doing this kind of crap is no good!

This is the beginning of a slippery slope, or to but it more bluntly... give them an inch, and they'll take a mile! This kind of malpractice should never be tolerated, no matter how "small" and "insignificant" the changes are! Period!

Lmao Ian literally help make a character that has bigger tits then rouge. Called lanolin.

Also Amy still has crush on sonic IDW proves as much.
I am not interested in the IDW comics here. I'm angry that they chose to actively rewrite and censor a 13-year old game while somehow Colors Ultimate didn't get the same treatment! You know damn well the comics have nothing to do with why people like me are mad.

Also, a lamb? Seriously? Who the ♥♥♥♥ whacks off to an anthro lamb?

Who waks off to a bat?

No it's not. You just want to dismiss what I'm saying because you don't like that I'm telling the truth. Slippery slope is also sometimes called "the domino effect".

sliperly slope is literally the name of a logical fallacy.

slippery slope fallacy is a logical fallacy that claims a small action or event will lead to a series of negative or extreme consequences. The term comes from the idea that once you start sliding down a slippery slope, it's almost impossible to stop.
Other names for the slippery slope fallacy include the dam burst fallacy, domino fallacy,

What makes Sonic not using his hand a "writing fix"?

Also why changing writing when the story is simple to begin with?

And finally sorry but the slippery slope has been proved true (or at least when you give some people a hand they take the arm).

And I'd argue that for the sake of preservation I don't like when they rewrite the story to fit the current era just for the sake of it.

Hi. I am going to chime in...

Have you NOT realized how many times SONIC has actually been censored?! You're acting as if this is the first time SONIC has ever been censored, which is not true.

Sonic the Hedgehog has been known to have rushed games... but you might not understand why they are rushed. Let's show examples of how this series has rushed itself, shall we? no sonic game is a finalized complete product. Every game has at least some unused material, debatably censorship...

In Sonic Forces, we would have been shown a leaked script which tells that we would've seen Mephiles in the game at one point. Would you consider this censorship?

In Sonic Frontiers, the islands used to be merged, together. They were later split to make the game... well, longer. An example of this is that the 1st and fourth island are basically the same island, we simply just explored a different section on the island, the top section instead on the 4th island. Would you consider this censorship?

In Sonic 06, there are two unused music tracks. These music tracks never were produced, yet have file names in the game itself. Some cutscenes also don't even exist. There was more story that was cut out, clearly. Originally, a day / night system was planned, and we would've seen the sky change periodically. Would you consider this censorship?

In Sonic Unleashed, we would have seen Sonic's skeleton when he was electrocuted. We don't get to see his skeleton in the full game. Would you consider this censorship?

As well, all of the Sonic... games, have multiple unused lines. Unused dialogue for every single game. Would you consider this censorship?

At one point in Sonic Colors, eggman would've said "NO! HE'S STRONGER THAN SUPER SONIC!" Would you consider this censorship? I stand by my point, every sonic game has been censored or revisioned to some degree whether you know about it or NOT. Now that you know this information, what will you do?

Does that excuse it?

Also I'm glad that they didn't mention the hyper go on being stronger than the Chaos Emeralds because Sonic Colours' story was supposed to be its own self contained story and it would've also been a weird power scaling retcon like Hyper Sonic and Sonic being able to Chaos Control with a fake emerald.

On the other hand Generations is an already established game with its story.

"sonic not using his hands a writing fix" context for that statement?

because the dialogue was bad and had almost nothing related to the story?

slippery slope has and will always be a fallacy.

because i think the push to genetic engineering deadly diseases out of the genie pool like sickle cell, diabetes, cancer, and AIDS is a good thing does that mean i will start supporting eugenic? i think not.

it's a nonsensical fallacy people use to prevent good changes far to often.

i don't think rewriting storys is either good or bad it depends how it's done and in this case i think it was needed.

and it's defiantly not censorship.

You're talking about cutting room floor content. I'm talking about a game that was complete 13 years ago and is now being censored to fit "current day". Not the same thing, but nice gaslighting attempt.

On that note, where's the outrage for Shadow the Hedgehog (2005) getting censored?

No joke, there was going to be a lot more than what we saw in the actual game, but due to the ESRB introducing the E10+ rating at the time SEGA decided to shoot for that as opposed to a more mature T rating, so they toned down several aspects of the game to achieve that age rating.

Stuff like Maria's death cutting to white before it's actually shown to the player, the swearing becoming a lot less frequent and more mild, green alien blood instead of red, and so on, just so they could have a lower age rating in the US. (it was still rated 12+ in Europe anyway)

Any and all censorship in this game (if it even exists at all) is nothing by comparison.

The "Sonic's stupid friends" stuff started way before that, I remember hearing that way back in the Adventure days.

I also don't see Knuckles as an idiot because Amy gave him a comedic slap into the tree. It's just silly humour, harmless. I hardly see how the slightly less aggressive slap is an improvement, it's the same thing dialled down a notch. It wasn't even bad, just a bit of fun to demonstrate how much strength Amy has when she gets irritated.

As for Amy being a stalker, I never got that impression. I read a post from somebody describing Amy and Sonic that I happen to agree with. It's like the cat and the mouse, a constant pursuit of near captures and repeated escapes. The reason why you see it as Amy being a stalker is because you have lost the ability to suspend your disbelief, you're applying real world logic and can't accept how their relationship is described in universe. Also, not every single character needs be layered. Being one dimensional for comedic value can be fun.

What you're describing is not censorship. The ESRB is simply a ratings board, not a censorship board. They aren't applying pressure to video game companies to remove, change, or manipulate content because they believe nobody should see it. It's a guidance for parents so they know if the content they are purchasing is suitable for children.
