Really strange crash of unknown cause.

I recently just got this game and got some mods for it. I was running around in the hub world, until I tried to open one of the "chests," I guess you could call them. Upon opening one the game crashed. I tried again to see if it was just a fluke and found it to happen on a different chest. I tried opening one again with my mods completely disabled, but once again the game crashes. So it seems like this issue isn't caused by the mods. I have tried Validating files, yet this came up with nothing.

It is possible the the save is broken now since you used mods. Maybe make a new save or load a save before you installed mods and try again. I haven't a single crash when opening the chests

Attempting to make a new save crashes the game too now. I presume the cutscene is missing leading it to crash, but that doesn't make sense because I never had anything that changes cutscenes. I did recently move the game to my external hard-drive, so maybe that is the issue. I think I'll just reinstall.

maybe the mod files are still in the game folder if you install them that way? If you gonna reinstall. I recommend delete the entire game folder and empty the bin then uninstall and reinstall or else those mod files will still be in there (trust me I play skyrim se)

So, from what I've gathered, it's a problem on my external hard-drive. I did some testing by going into the collection room and watching a cutscene. Seemingly after installing mods, on the eternal the game crashes from what appears to be the game saving. While on my main computer it continues to run perfectly. I guess my external is just dying or something, because I can't really explain that.
