"Could Not Load Save Data"

This only applies to Shadow Generations, Sonic Generations works fine. I can load all my Shadow files just fine, but when it tries to autosave or if I try to save manually it says 'could not load save data'. This happened after I got three Christmas skin packs for Shadow Generations through Hedgehog Mod. Seeing the issue, I uninstalled them and the game still cannot save. Verified integrity, still cannot save.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the entire game, no Hedgehog Mod connection at all, and I still cannot save. I've seen the issue come up a few times here but never seen any answers. Anyone have this issue and figure it out? Even starting a new game gives the same popup and refuses to save.

And naturally, minutes after I posted this I found the answer. To any that have this issue, open Hedgehog Mod Loader, go to settings and 'Uninstall Mod Loader'. So long as it's tied to Shadow Generations after this corruption issue, it will not let you save.

As for how to apply the mod loader again safely, I have no idea. It's a shame the festive skins aren't going to work out, but hey, if you have this issue, there's the solution.

this actually helped me, wish i could use mods and save tho, all i want is for the boost to keep shadow skating i feel like it looks better but i cant save if i do

turns out you can use mods all you gotta do is turn off the redirect save file, skate boost doesnt work with lancelot shadow tho
