Let go of all defense, go full offense.
As some people have said in other posts, daemon area you will want to use ranged a lot.
Lvl 200+, is possible even 250, full crit, attack speed, and a decent score of ranged attack, use the composite bow and arrows from the inventor vendor in frozen area, and don't auto cast spell, just cast thunder bolt to reset attack and confuse target right before he attacks.
Having enough HP to be able to survive one or two attack will help too.
ah alright thanks for the tip, guess i will try that then, gotta grind my ranged quite a bit then tho since i never really used it so far hah
I was around 65 ranged, was under lvl 250, took everything in the skill tree besides the mana nodes basically, had 3000hp, full Carapean armor, composite bow and arrows.
Managed to clear the monster you are on currently with same setup, but probably around 10 less ranged, and less maximum hp.
I didn't know the fight which didn't help, but I can say for sure it might be enough if you know what you are doing. Otherwise, probably with more levels, and better hp healing items, no problem.
If you maxed your crit and attack speed, and you HAVE the composite bow and arrows, it's easy enough.
Managed to unlock the inventor before that, with just the daemon slingshot.
i am currently stuck trying to kill that 55k health mob in the icy premises, the thunder just doesnt reload fast enough for me to cancel his attacks enough...if i do melee i can take a few hits, if i try ranged with just all out crit which i need to use since i wouldnt do damage otherwise i can get him to like half the health before dying since he almost one shots me..idk what i am doing wrong that i am stuck wherever i go
Thunder is best used right before enemies attack charge is full - not during movement phase - as it resets the attack timer.. and as that enemy has a long attack timer that is plenty time to kill it. Also invest points in movement speed (especially the one that doubles first 3 seconds, cause as your movement speed increases so does it take longer for enemy to reach you. Best use the 8 range bow + the 20 cost arrows that increase range - you can switch your preferred weapon when the movement phase of your enemy is over. For example the crit bow and crit arrow that have low range for close to 100% crit rate.
Full crit, movement/attack speed, power/ranged, crit chance and crit multi in skill tree, Daemon Slingshot, full Carapean Armor set. If I remember well, that's something like 70-75% crit at 2.3 multiplicative bonus.
You start the fight doing as much damage as possible (can cast poison spell if mastered for DoT too), and switch to Carapean shield + axe right before he reach you.
Right before he get to attack finally, use thunder bolt to reset the attack.
Should be enough if you trained enough your ranged skill, and have all the important skills from tree.
If not, with enough hp you can survive one attack easily, and get more time.
If it doesn't work, train ranged skill, earn more xp for more skill in tree you might still be missing.
Demon Slingshot does less overall damage during movement phase then Long Bow + Ice Arrow. I was able to kill that enemy easily at around 88 total archery levels (~lvl 61 archery + all archery nodes), Full Carapean set [except shield], all crit nodes/crit dmg nodes, action speed nodes, the +15% movement speed a few nodes to unlock x2 movement speed for first 3 seconds and the 2 big movement speed nodes.
And that is without any spells, tho once he got through.. due to rng on dmg and crit.. that's why - with 1 thunderbolt spell it should be easy.
You can completely clear the game without melee.. but i highly doubt you can do without range and i am still checking if melee is actually needed on a no-spell run. The archer right before the prince is wrecking me on no-spell run/melee.
I used it a lot overnight for grinding exp and range lvl, so yeah.
But if you can do it with it, indeed you are correct the bow makes it even easier, with probably less range level even!
But yeah.
I don't see how it's gonna be possible to do a run without magic indeed.
I don't feel the dark skills will make the difference that easily.
We'll see I guess, I have plenty other things to do right now.
Currently working on a "kill no innocent animals" run, would be already plenty if I could do that. Oh. And the first time captain defeat, missed that one the first time...
Only need to reach the darklands for that, tho i'm still debating over what actually is an 'innocent' animal. I think frog and fish should be one.. i doubt wolf is - as you have to kill either of those on that first spot below town. And i think you aren't allowed to kill rats after the quest either. Poison/Healing spell probly must be skipped until demon lands or close to it, as you aren't allowed to kill the spiders either ? (And no leveling at that hopper guy)
But if it does, it mean there is a very specific pathway, and you NEED to go through Low Woodland for this, without indeed hitting brawlhopper, BUT killing the cultists...
Which mean, killing 8 ennemies with 1.4k hp, and 85 power, which at that level, is deadly in a couple of hits from them.
Trying to overlevel on farmers, have the best in slot gear I can get, will try to get most of the armor nodes from the tree, and try to reach lvl 50-60, even if it takes some time to see if I can survive.
But the leveling process, other that that isn't horrible, because:
- The "tutorial" part in the village don't count, just do go kill harpies to the left.
- Out of the village, don't kill anything animal like, focus on farmer boys and sailor for some equipement, then, onto pirates and old farmers for more.
- Can try to kill pirates captain for a weapon upgrade next, and stay on old farmer for some exp.
- Onto pixie wilderness, kill pixies, didn't kill mushroom just in case, but suposed to be safe.
- Timber field, same thing.
- Stuck on Low woodland with the cultists right now.
- Next should be woodfolk circle, the archer cultists should be dooable after those from previous tiles.
- North to the three bandits from story, should be easy at this point.
- Right before the camp, a dangerous tile with two animals, wetland border, just need to kill bandits.
- Camp, and basically victory, as the city only awaits.
Sure that mean no leveling on brawlhopper and/or sensei, but after you beat the captain, and reach the daemon lands, you can go back to level normally.
So yeah, only hard part I see is where I am at: low woodlands, and those insane cultists...
Maybe it depends on equiped items too, if you managed to earn some good starting stuff...
I was way too slow to do so.
Because I'm lvl 55 right now, and 45 ranged skill grinded on old farmers, and still nowhere near able to kill berzerker cultists.
Maybe soon though.
Well my fastest was only around 40h, so thats maybe the early power pants (that reduce defense), i collected boots from 1 map above and the pirate hat north-west of the farmers. (Actually kept grinding pirates at some point, as it seemingly offers more gold for arrows.) At 40h you also get some other stuff (that is actually almost enough to buy that 1200 bow directly)
