How to prevent Weissman from kill-vanishing my characters?
As per the title. I'm at the final battle. At one point Weissman keeps using this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ vanish-kill attack that renders my character zero HP and invisible, and after he does that I cannot bring the character back. Athelas doesn't allow me to select the character, neither does reviving/celestial balm and zeram powder. A friend keeps saying that I should use something that can cure vanish but I can't even select the disappeared character. i'm at my wits end. Please help.

I don't think it's curable. You have to block it with Earth Wall or Kevin's S-Craft.

been awhile like year or two since i did it but if im rembering right it was something to do with moving your chars out of the incoming attack. also it might of been impedeable to.

The first fight? It's unavoidable, they just come back after a few turns with 0 EP. Toss a Zeram on them when they get back and move on.

The second fight, his vanish is a permanent removal, but it's static targeted area and you move out of it during cast time. Always use Clock Up EX or this may not be possible to dodge in time.

It’s the second fight. I find that on many occasions I’m blocked from moving, I select move and find that the game wouldn’t let the character move, as if the character has been pinned in place somehow. Kevin isn’t in my party.

I don't think Kevin blocks it. I don't think there's even a status in the game that prevents movement without completely removing your turn.

Parts of the arena disappear if memory serves. Maybe it interferes with the pathfinding.

If you're surrounded by other enemies, pits, or tightly-grouped allies, that may well happen. Only thing I can think of is if you're wearing a bunch of stuff that penalizes MOV or something.

I suspect it would be pits. There were these things called Alpha-Omegas zapping the playfield, and now that I think about it, once the area is zapped I can't select it. My characters have pretty high MOV, the battle with Loewe allowed me to cover the entire battlefield. I didn't focus on attacking them thinking that they would just respawn and instead focused on Angel Weissman instead because my attacks were doing very little damage (higher level spells like Death Scream seem to do only around the neighborhood of 500, no zemurian ore weapons because I forgot to get Gambler Jack Vol. 10). Is that a bad thing to do? Should I have focused on killing those things and only slowly whittling away Weissman's health instead?

AoE S-Crafts. Kill minions and weaken the boss. Multi-target spells take too long to cast and deal underwhelming damage toward the end.

Also the turn after Weissman does that big vanish move, his defenses tank. You can drop a sequence of chain crafts and S-breaks into that window and delete about half his HP.

Yes, the enemies can be respawned, but you've seen the problem with ignoring them entirely. You need to find a happy medium where you can kill enough minions to not have the battlefield crippled while still spending turns on the boss.
